G27 is the budget stuff. If you want good stuff get Fantec.. they seem to have some fantastic models. Stay away from shitmaster.

Sounds ?

Oh you mean engine's sounds ?

Sorry can't tell about this, I am always racing with ingame sounds OFF and listening Dubstep music @ 100% volume.

Cool Face

On a more serious note, cars sounds are from average to excellent depending of the car.
I drive most of the time with cockpit view.
When trying outside views I found out I prefer exteriors engines sounds by much.

Also don't forget you get "muffled" sounds if you are using helmet view.

What annoys me is that gear whine sound. Nearly every car in Shift had that sound and it was louder than the actual engine sound. It seems like it is back in Pcars.

disagree, quite a bit lol. I have both the fantec and the G27, one is belt driven, one uses helical gearing. While playing, the motors on both wheels have the same FFB feeling, To say which is better is hard really, they are both to me about the same aside from the pedals, Fantec has much better pedals. Though there is now a conversion box out there that you can use any wheel with any pedal setup, EXample, G27 wheel with Fantec pedals. To me that is the setup I would like best. Like I say they are both great, to say one is better than the other is tough for me. THey both have their great points. If cost is not an issue, then maybe go for Wheels you prolly haven't heard of, real pro, hydraulic setups Smile Costs starts in the 5 thousand dollar range for a wheel and pedals, no shifter Razz Otherwise The G27 is 225 USD$ most times on Amazonor Ebay, new. Meh, I thought I'd like the Fantec whell better, but I really do not. I am looking into that conversion box to have the g27 with the Fantec pedals. I will say the Fantec if anything, has a little more "muted" feeling while driving, others will say it's better then the G27, but again, for me the G27 wheel drives better... You feel more with the G27 for me. Not worth the price difference. I would buy a G27 wheel and the fantec pedals and the conversion box.. lol I could have just wrote the G27 is a fine wheel, but I wanted to expand some.

Thrustmaster support sucks. Their wheels break. I went to a local marketing event of the T500.. me and a friend both played gt5 via split screen, each with a T500.. somewhere mid-race, one of the wheel just broke down out of the sudden. Nothing we tried could revive it. It failed internally because those dickheads cheapened on some materials. There're lots of Amazon reviews that also show bad support from Thrustmaster customer service, but seriously, after experiencing it fail first hand I won't be getting it and risking my hard earned cash.

yeah agree, stay away from TM. Horrid support, and shipping to them sux in shipping, and you will be without your wheel for 3 months ... WTF?
Well after they blame you for breaking the wheel a few times, lol

I wasn't saying it's bad. Just said it's budget compare to what you can get today. At it's time, it was the best. In fact, I had a g25, enjoyed it for some time until some small plastic part gave and left me wondering for few months. Luckily, I figured it out and got it fixed... the thing is, it felt cheap. The only really high quality stuff was the rim itself.

The even more sad thing is for those who bought junior but forgot to upgrade to team just before funding ended. These still get monthly builds and no access to multiplayer. Laughing

I just didn't have the gaming rig this game requires at the time so I figured it was pointless if I couldn't play it.. since then the GPU melted and I was "forced" to buy a decent setup that could now run it Very Happy

Smoother ffb, better shifter resistance, 6 buttons on wheel instead of 2.

Only downside is no seqential mode on shifter.

Also think g25 not for sale anymore.

Well, I got my G27 now and I'm really happy with it!

It's waaaaaay better than my previous wheel... I tried Shift, Grid and some rFactor to start off, I had fun in all of them! I'd like to try it in Project Cars but unfortunately it seems you can't buy it at the moment so that'll have to wait (is there any ETA on when it'll be available again?).

I also tried Dirt 3 with it, that's been the most fun yet. Yeah, it's definitely fairly arcady and I'm sure for simulation fans it sucks ass but for me as a noob I think it's a lot of fun as a casual racing game. The wheel is just so much better than my previous one, holy shit. And having an actual clutch + driving stick makes so much difference...

Very happy with the choice, thanks guys for the tips!

I think this may be the reason you cant buy into it at the moment

hmm.. yes good read. I didn't know that's the reason. Strange.

Anyway, I'm actually feeling stupid not investing in 1000 euros or so. I believe it will all work out in the end.

Last year's WRC3 is much better than Ken Derp's "Rally" 2+3. Far from being a sim, but much better nonetheless Smile
