The amount of win in that is just...wow.

That's 16.5 years life out of the ever amazing Quantum drives in it - I still have both a Fireball and a Bigfoot (albeit just 100 megs for one and a couple of gigs for the other Razz) on a shelf because they're too awesome to get rid of; each weighs more than any component you have in your computer today Very Happy
They also beat the crap out of any HDD you can buy now. Absolutely fucking indestructible and they came with the best HDD toolkit ever. Quantum DiskPro salvaged many hard drives (never either of the Quantums though Smug) for me, in ways that SpinRite + any of the live-boot images now still can't do.

That's also 16.5 years of life out of the UPS behind it (read the thread, there's 2 of them + it's on a stable grid), 16.5 years of life out of the CPU cooler (although I imagine this is passive, no way could a fan survive that long).

And that's Netware kicking ass.

Some of those crashes are utterly moronic, I guess russians just bribe the officials to get their licenses instead of, you know, actually learning how to drive before getting one.

Here every 2-nd car is a 150hp VW, every 3-rd car is a 200hp BMW, every 4-th car is a BMW/AUDI/VW/Porsche SUV with 300+hp, every 5-th car is a luxury sedan BWM 5-th+ series, Panamera, Audi 8s.. and every one of them thinking he's the king of the road.. And they all have a minimum wage salary or own a company that declares loss in the FI

At the same time last year I went to Serbia, and for 3 days I only saw 2 BMW's and maybe 5 more cars with engines above 1.6L..

I wish they implement taxes on luxury/SUV cars as Czechs do.

he probably means speed wise you can't even go 3rd. (Seeing as i don't drive myself, i don't really what else he could have meant hehe). But yeah, we have very strict rules. And rather low speed limits (from 25-30kmh in towns , to 55 kmh on land roads to 80-110 kmh on highways. Also a LOT of controls (fix and random) so people usually drive better and smarter, i guess.

Damn, on highways here it's 140 and you have to be 150+ to get a ticket, and even if you do 190 the fine is around 150eur, +10eur per 10km above or something. Last year a Panamera did 250 and got caught by a stationary camera - fine 450eur.

Our cameras are really old, and if you make 250+ they don't catch you, so there are races with newer cars to go through a stationary camera without getting caught, and on the pic is just an empty road.

and like deelix said, most high power cars are forbidden or have to be severly limited or whatever. You see surprisingly few ferraris etc in a country as rich as switzerland Smile

Meanwhile in Romania...
Quote:
There’s nothing wrong about being a vigilant citizen and alerting authorities when you think there's a problem. That’s exactly what a woman from Baia Mare, Romania, did when she saw smoke coming out of a parked car’s engine compartment.
Suspecting a fire, she called the firefighters. What she didn’t know was that the old Audi A6 had an…"auxiliary heating system running on fuel" that had been turned on by the owner via a remote control.

After unsuccessfully using a crowbar to open the hood, they even brought a hydraulic extrication cutter to pop it open. Having done that, they poured gallons of water on the engine, but the stubborn smoke continued to come out.

The “puzzle” was solved by the car’s owner himself, who arrived at the scene only to find his vehicle vandalized by… firefighters.

When I was 18-20 id think that was awesome, but I really don't anymore. Going so fast (SAFE!) isn't something everyone could and should do. BUT I do like driving in northern Jylland (Denmark) going 140-150 because thats following the traffic there, even at daytime. Speedlimit is 130. I later found out that people around Copenhagen, and pretty much all people outside Jylland think that they drive like crazy Very Happy And well, they do. And there are more accidents there than in Norway. Well, its no wonder, our max speed on the highway is 100 Laughing
