i have some weird "issue". I am oc'ing my cpu (fine tuning anyway) and i got some weird results. Last one was like this :

compared to the old one with stock speeds :

as you can see, physx scores increased considerably in all 3 test.

Also graphics scores in test 2 and 3 increased considerable (test 2) and slightly (in test 3). BUT the graphics score from test 1 decreased by a whooping 90'000 points (from 224k down to 135k).

Btw here the cpu is "only" at 4.1 ghz (going to raise it back to 4.4 or 4.5 , whatever i can get stable anyway).

Everything is the same. Same gpu clocks, memory , etc , all the same. Same drivers as well.

Any ideas what could cause this ?

Your CPU overclock was not stable, its probably throttling cloks in the test when overclocked.

Lol your 460 SLI scored THAT bad back then? Neutral
I thought the HD6870 was on par with 470, surely the 460 isn't THAT far behind...
Yet my score is only 400 points behind on your new one Neutral

Yep, the 460's are that bad Laughing I'm glad I got rid of them, the upgrade was well needed.

No, i was comparing his 2x 460 with that.

But even so, still amazing how good a almost 2 generation (if you see the 68xx and 69xx as 2 different, since they came out with big dates in between), or 2.3 years old cards (that costed me €170 and €150) holds up against these days almost top end, cards.
I can compare anything i want, doesn't matter if it's single or dual gpu that i'm comparing with my cards, so i don't get the point you are trying to make here Smile

Ah damn, didn't knew the 460 was THAT much worse then the 470. Neutral

I probably wouldn't have cared about upgrading THAT much, if it wasn't for the 1GB VRAM. Just tried Crysis 3 pretty much maxed out and it was using 1.5GB VRAM.

That's my bottleneck atm aswell, but i have no cash for upgrading, nor is it really worth spending 500+ euro for only ~10-20% increase... if i spend 500+ euro, i expect an increase of atleast 50-75%

Not sure, but the first two tests don't really matter anyway. Fire Strike is the test for gaming PC's.

(i5-3570k@3.5ghz, 8gb ram, 560 ti, SSD Sata3)

it clearly boosted the first, more cpu intensive test, but it made no difference on 2nd and 3rd test.

and now with the 660ti, everything else same (so now my whole pc is finally all new hehe)

i know only last test really matters, so i am quite happy with the increase

edit : i think the drop in some scores is because the cpu isn't running at its real speeds, since it doesnt seem to consider it necessary for those tests haha.

Never Settle Drivers (12.11 betas was the first version I think, they keep working on improving performance, smoothness (new MME)) kicked all 7-series card up the ladder.

update :

since i had all that trouble with my gpu (or rather the drivers or whatever combination lol)

here a probably more accurate score for a 660ti/3750k combo Smile

also finally turned off intel speed stepping crap in bios hehe.

and as you can see in comparison to the previous test, graphics score remained more or less stable (no surprise) but physics (not physX btw Wink ) got a huge boost.

edit : whats odd tho, is the displayed core clock. My 660 ti is a superclocked on, running at 1087 and 1137 turbo something.

Not sure what is with 3DMark and the clock speeds, but I know that my card was boosting when running the program. up to about 1189Mhz. 3DMark reports it as 705 MHz
