What "baby" character? o.O
All I see are a guy in speedos, a robot and a female ape.

That's not a guy in a speedo. Guys have real hair. This is obviously a child, if not a baby, in a speedo.
Now it may sound inappropriate in this context, but those screens give me a raging boner.

For fuck's sake, even after months upon months of "GIVE US A FUCKING PREORDER ALREADY", they just now opened a thread, asking what is the community's opinion on doing preorders for the game.
http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/your-feedback-on-a-preorder.16281/
Quote: | Hi guys,
So we're considering launching a preorder through playstarbound.com and we'd love to hear your feedback.
Progress on Starbound is actually really good. We're still working on putting up the development roadmap (sorry this is taking a while, it's a spare time thing whilst I work on Starbound). The roadmap will be up before we launch any kind of preorder to give you a good idea of where we're at and what's left to do.
So, why a preorder?
Omni and Bartwe are working a second job whilst working on Starbound to keep food on their table and that keeps them from working full time on Starbound. With a successful preorder they would be able to dedicate their full time to the game and get it out faster. It would also ensure that no one from the rest of the team will need to take a second job before the beta is done.
How would the preorder work?
The way we go about the preorder is very dependent on your feedback, but the plans right now are..
- Preordering would get you access to the beta *when the beta is ready*, the only time line for that is "2013", but you'll be able to track progress on the roadmap. We'll make it super clear when you preorder that there is no guarantee when the beta will be available other than some time within 2013.
- Preordering will be cheaper than buying the game after it comes out of beta
- Preordering through playstarbound.com will get you a steam key when the game hits steam (likely at beta), as well as a direct download.
- The potential for paying more for extras is there (think kickstarter tiers), but none of these extras would be in game items/content. We're committed to making sure you get the *whole* game for a basic purchase. So it'd likely be soundtrack/artbook/name a star style rewards.
- There are lots of payment services we could make use of, BMT micro, humble store, digital delivery or something else. Which would you prefer?
- Preordering will get you the linux, mac and windows versions of the game.
So what do you think guys, does this sound viable to you?
If we do tiers, what kind of rewards would you like to see?
Is the 2013 timeframe too large? Or is opening preorders a good thing if it allows us to get the beta out faster? |

Quote: | Hi guys,
This has been a long time coming but we’ve finally completed the Starbound roadmap.
We’re sorry it took a while, but as with all things Chucklefish we wanted to take the extra time to get it just right.
You can use to get an idea of the tasks we’re working on and the progress of individual tasks.

It's pretty lame that they said in late 2012 (in november i believe it was) that they didnt know if it would be released by the end of the year. It's pretty obvious now that they werent close to a release.

Quote: | [20:04] <@Tiy> are you guys going to help me spread the word when the preorder goes live?
[20:04] <@Tiy> make the earth shake with the power of our tweets
[20:05] <@Tiy> I dont want to promise tomorrow, because if I doand then something happens to stall it
[20:05] <@Tiy> everyone will murder me with rusty spoons
[20:05] <@Tiy> we're TRYING for tomorrow though
[20:07] <@Tiy> Pixel tier - 1x copy of the full game, when its ready. 1x copy of the beta, when its ready, 1x starbound soundtrack, 1x experimental soundtrack (66 tracks total i believe)+4pack
[20:08] <@Tiy> Silver tier, all of the above + a contributors penguin forum badge+4pack
[20:08] <@Tiy> Gold Tier - all the above, the forum badge is tier 2, you get to name an NPC
[20:09] <@Tiy> Diamond tier - all the above, tier 3 forum badge, you get to name an npc and your name goes in the credits
[20:09] <@Tiy> Platinum Tier - all above, tier 4 forum badge, you get to name an npc, name goes in credits + you get to design a hat
[20:10] <@Tiy> Solarium Tier - game (when ready), beta (when ready), soundtrack, tier 5 badge, name npc, name in credits, design a weapon (its design, how it fires/swings)
[20:12] <@Tiy> Avian Tier (Price: Free) - no game/soundtrack, but you get a nifty forum badge in return for tweeting about the game
[20:12] <@Tiy> The high level tiers are pretty expensive, kickstarter style, theyre for people who really want to invest in us
[20:12] <@Tiy> but I think the base price is good, $15 for the game + a 66 track soundtrack
[20:15] <@Tiy> second lowest is silver
[20:15] <@Tiy> around $20, or $60 for a 4 pack
[01:21] <@Tiy> only willing to say 2013 at the mo
[01:21] <@Tiy> launch price will be higher
[01:14] <@Tiy> gold will be AROUND $45
[01:14] <@Tiy> Impervium will be AROUND $2k |
$15 for the game, beta access and a huge soundtrack.
