unless there's some miraculous zero latency wireless video protocol

WiDi is the closest we can get, which is about 60-70 ms still (4-5 frames, assuming 60) Sad

That's 3.5 as well, which is barely supported by anything.

mad max, how is your review of the HMZ-T2 ? for movies in 720p ( i dont own any bluray nor download 1080p stuff)

and games, what games support it and does it do headtracking ?

Download 720p 3D Titanic or dredd or whatever and it's like ur standing there with the actors.

Games well ps3 has bunch (kill zone 3...first time time u go over a ledge and look down is insane lol) and tons of other games on PC that don't officially support it work too, some better than others though. But overall the 3D effects are absolutely great, problem is finding the right fit and hold for the helmet and all that. Just ordered the bigger forehead cushion and strap cushions so ill see how that goes. This has to be the future of gaming but still some kinks to workout.

"it's like ur standing there with the actors."

do you even own them ? its like sitting in a completely dark room looking at a screen that is still a few feet away.

it doesn't occupy your complete FOV like the rift, obviously, after all the rift achieves this by changing the FOV of the game and bending the screen with a shader. wouldn't work on a movie unless it was made for virtual-reality.

Watched the whole thing. Looks good. It only needs sensors for pan and zoom, and a high res screen. OC 2.0 will indeed be glorious.

Will be a nice upgrade from Track IR5 + 3D TV i bet! Hopefully it will support more games than what Track IR does. One big "disadvantage" is that you get spoiled like hell with those things.. It's no fun at all to go back to games that lacks support for head tracking (or 3D for that matter, but the combo is incredible.)

Very excited for this, maybe it will pave the way for more sophisticated hardware, I just see myself playing Elder Scroll 6 with this thing on Me Gusta

Somebody needs to hook this up with ARMA 3 Oculus for head movement, and then a motion controller shaped like a gun (game gun) and the kinekt for body movement now that would = AWESOME!!!

you can bet that the arma3 guys already got their sdk and are experimenting with it. Its too tempting not to implement it in arma3.

Yeah, the VR headset would be cool, But Im talking about a full emersion setup that would be fucking awesome, remember that crazy dude who made the game gun with the gyrosopic mouse in it as a peripheral like that for aiming and moving, kinekt for standing/crouching and perhaps inventory management if possible plus the occulus oh man the possibilities if I had the coding knowledge id be straight on it. The early demos with the wii controllers are looking promising though.

There's already one like that. A gun thing that has authentic recoil and shit. It's a peripheral for pc.

Do YOU own them? if you dont then dont comment and assume stuff for others , if you do then perhaps go to settings and change the resolution.... mine WAS like being in the dark room with a mall tv in the middle.... TILL I FOUND THE SETTINGS!

and yes it is just like standing there with the actors... and its glorious.

thanks for coming out.

ignore the brat
the hydra/sixense tech clearly has potential here
oculus should make a deal with them and put out integrated positional tracking with controllers to go with it
the specs has no limits to how many trackers you can have due to it's simplicity
the sixense devkits were wireless so being wired is not even a requirement
you could even use this to track limbs at higher fidelity than any IMU or kinect setup would do

All that head tracking, moving around on omnidirectional treadmills, missing haptic feedback - its very inconvenient. I hope it will be over soon and VR moves to the next level right away.

Every human already has a fully immersive VR system - dreaming. There you can do everything which now has to be mimicked with external peripherals.
There MUST be some way to tap into this system and use it to feed interactive virtual worlds directly to the brain.

which would introduce the same mental dangers as an lsd overdose.
