i would like to say...switch back to the old forum-layout!!
its not as good looking than this one,but at least it can handle cookies!
this is a pain in the ass to delete all cookies every single day and manually login on all forums every single day again!

That wont make a difference, believe me. I know its a pain having to login every time, thats why i want it fixed asap.

This is a server-side issue. |
Indeed. The cookies are getting generated correctly, i even did everything myself reading thru all the RFCs. Its a difficult problem to track down, especially if you've tried all the browsers on the planet and you still cant reproduce the damn cookie problem.
I'll keep at it, i'm bound to figure out what in god's name is causing it...very soon i hope :/

First of all, it works for -a while- with Firefox, you can log on the forums, and surf them for -a while-. I think maybe the error is that the cookies aren't set to be long enough?
Is there ie. a limit for a maximum amount of time you can set a cookie, so maybe you're setting it too high, and therefore it reverts back to some default?
Try setting the cookie-time for one week, and we'll retry?
Yes, yes I'm back.

fisk, no, there's no practical limit on how long a cookie can stay on your box, so that's not it i'm afraid. Tell me, does it log you off while you're still browsing the site or when you close and reopen the browser?
Let me know if things turned for the better, i had another go at the cookie monster hehe.

Nope, it isn't.

Ive found that most of the threads which get fucked up (like menus appearing in weird spots or text being cropped) are those which have big images...maybe its me, but i think others have this problem as well.

Damn, typical.
There it's gone again.
Ok, it keeps the cookies between application exits, thus it's ... somehow, the way the server sends it.
Could it be that the server fails to send the same cookie to the client, and therefore it sends a complete new sig. every time?
Yes, yes I'm back.

i set firefox to save my login information, so it's simply clicking login everytime it happens. i learned to live with it already.
however it's really strange, when i close firefox and open it just right after that and visit nforce the information is stored,
but sometimes when i'm idle in a thread it logs me off. so it seems to be time-dependant.

fisk, do you happen to know how much time passed between your visits when it forgot you again? Could you also do me a little favour? when you log in can you please goto Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Cookies -> View Cookies. Then in the list find ".nforce.nl" - you should see at least two entries, "nfohash" and "nfouser". Now select those cookies and look below the list, you should see a line reading "Expires:". Can you tell me what it says?
Also when you logout and login again, the nfohash entry should change.
wierd0, thats normal because your session expires thus you have to login again.

I don't know about phpBB, but I remember having a similar problem on a vBulletin board I run. The problem there was that I had set the wrong cookie domain.
It could also possibly be a template you've changed and unintentionally messed up. Try backing up the templates and then reverting all of them to the originals. If the problem goes away, you know it was a template that messed things up.
