Same here, I really don't see the point in switching since it does what I want and a bit more.
And that's coming from a guy who has a premium spotify membership. Surprised

Is there a program WORSE than winamp to listen to MP3's? Razz
It was great 10 years ago, then AOL bought it, and it got more bloated and useless overtime.

Id say VLC if you want easy simple playback. MediaMonkey or foobar if you want a full library/sorting/genre listing/etc program.
I prefer MediaMonkey over fubar myself. the interface and such just feel better for my usage style.

Fuck that shit, on my Mac and iOS I elite with iTunes. Fucking shit sucks, no Flac support, which is what I use exclusively. I compromise with 192kbps AAC.

I would switch from WinAMP in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the awesome Lyrics plugin you can get that automatically shows the lyrics for every song you play...

http://www.lyricsplugin.com/ is what I'm talking about.

If you guys have an alternative that can show lyrics automatically as each song plays through a playlist, do tell me because I'd like to switch to it.

So apart from a lot of "WinAMP is crap" - I'm not really hearing any reason why Neutral It plays audio perfectly, has a gazillion plugins for those obscure formats some of us like, and it's skinnable --- if you feel like staring at your media player rather than minimising it to the taskbar xD 12MB RAM and 36MB on disk, no extraneous shit loaded, no ads, no forced gimmicks, just a music player.

I stopped using Firefox because it was slow, laggy and crash-prone. That's a reason to switch from Product X to Product Y. I haven't had a single issue with WinAMP in.... well, ever. I just don't understand the hate :\

For me the opening and listing of 50k+ mp3 and searching was painfully slow, the GUI when switching from any of its things like shoutcast back to my playlist was a bit laggy. or doing a search for a song its in browser would make mine hang.
I couldn't tell it to just 'update' links if I moved my music around, it just lost it. I had to let it do its slow search and readd them all thing.
and it was sinkable, but any of the good minimalistic ones didnt have the library browser, and its browser was always either "large and way too much in the way' or off. (maybe its just its library layout i didn't like)
Also mediamonkey seems a LOT faster at indexing and showing large folders of music than winamp was. Or telling it to mass change the metadata of MP3 Files, most the time it just decided to do random ones, and forget to change others.

Well I've not had any issues with the player like that, but I guess that could be because I don't use a library. The only time I "organise" my music (outside of Artist>Album folders, of course) is when I have to hook up a portable player, such as my Zen Vision-M. I just use the playlist on WinAMP itself.

However! I most certainly do agree with the "move the MP3? Sorry, it's gone now, can't find it, lolz" disability of WinAMP. Now we just see a red background on entries that refer to files that aren't where the player expects. Oh! I minor gripe is the auto-tagger doesn't offer CHOICES, it offers a suggestion and then you either accept it or don't... there's no "Hmm, I think this song is ... or ...." it's just "I think this song is .... so deal with it" xD

Yea, other than those things it was still as good as it was years ago. I never really liked the "we are going to do all this in 14 different windows" thing though.
I mean you could get a skin to make it all one window..but then it was a MASSIVE window and I couldn't combine/merge the ones I wanted into a single side window.

I'm using the latest beta of Winamp, have always set it to play 24-bit and only listen to FLAC's or HQ CBR 320K mp3's.

This anti-winamp sentiment started when the company were bought by AOL, ie. a small independent developer bought by a giant which is never popular. Meanwhile Winamp 5.70 + MMD3 skin + 24-bit sound + FLAC's and HQ 320K mp3's.. Never had an issue. Great shuffle, great playlist functions etc..

I love iTunes for its genius playlists.
If you have over 80,000 songs spanning various genres... Genius is awesome.
If there is an audio player that has a genius like playlist thing... I'd be down for that. Till then iTunes wins.

I've just ditched WinAMP and gone over to AIMP. The only reason is because I can't play .ape files in WinAMP / Windows 8 x64. Damn plugin does not work and I'll be damned if I can find another one. Anyway another +1 for AIMP Smile

I got most mine from ripping streaming stations that I like.. and it got out of control haha
I could rip 4-5 stations at the same time, and just let it run until it stopped doing anything from duplicates.

Like I ripped BlueMars, Spacestation Soma, and Dronezone, that over about a week was around 4000 songs itself. Then the 'Digitally-Imported' stations i liked was 2-3 thousand songs each station each..etc.

LOL WTF? Why Polish all of sudden, and how did you come up with "lepszy wiecej niz"? Laughing Surprised

BTW: I use foobar for listening to the music I have stored on my HDD.

Winamp has really good auto-tagger plug-in (called Gracenote?). It's a lot better than ('lepszy więcej niż') foobar's.
