It was Nvidias decision to skimp out on compute power, now it starts to show hard. This engine uses Global Illumination, Contact Hardening Shadows and High Definition Ambient Oclusion which all is done via directcompute therefore needs shitloads of compute power which Nvidia does not have.

Yeah, I don't get excited about a technology if the core game is such garbage. And technology? Whatever it is, pCars looks photorealistic and runs better while this turd looks like F1/Dirt3/Dirt2/Grid with some better gray/yellowish fog and runs like dogshit.

Bah, big deal! That one looks so bland, colourless and fake. And I bet that the handling is dodgy as hell with all those freaky parameters and settings for nerds..
When you need authentic feeling and visual realism, Codemasters is the way to go.
Obviously there's a price to pay for this, so don't expect to run this post-processing awesomesauce without a super-rig.
The game uses a brand new deferred bloom that enhances the IQ greatly, while adding a 3rd layer of blur to make everything more life-like, as well as the innovative film grain and dirty-camera effects only seen in epic hollywood movies. pCars will never have these, deal with it.
The game is so advanced and revolutionary that you don't even have to setup the car anymore like a retard. Grid 2 does that for you, and it's all based on realistic datas so don't worry. You only have to press the throttle button, and the true authentic power of such exotic beasts will blow you away! #codies4life

The second pic of Grid 2 is obviously stealth trolled cherry picked material. It seems when ever someone is trying to dis another game against their choice of game..they always go digging for the most bland pictures. I've seen the latest videos of the "PC" version of GRID 2 and it looks pretty bad ass to me and im no fanboy...im just you average "true" gamer that enjoys the hell out of any fun games simulation or not..what ever as long as its fun im GAME!....now i have no idea if that 2nd pic of Grid 2 compared to the pcars pic is a console version or PC version...but from what i've seen of the PC version so far....it looks waaay better than that stealth trolled cherry picked pic of GRID 2 with that bottom pic compared to that awesome looking PC Pcars pic. As a matter of fact...i can show you guys some in-game shots of Forza 4 that look pretty damn close to that Pcars picture in terms of impressive visuals...no nothing as far as i've seen so far looks better than Pcars graphically but hell...Project Gothem Racing 4 still holds its own even today...some of the best lighting and overall visuals in a racer to date and that game is like what? 5-6 years old now on dated xbox 360 hardware?
Dont get me wrong...Pcars lead platform for development was exclusively done for the PC only before devs opted to port it over to the consoles as well.
I guess the best way to compare pcars vs Grid2 is to compared PC vs PC and Console vs Console pictures of both games...i find all the fanboy's hilarious though...good laughs i must admit but come on peeps...we are all gamers here...Grid is not even the same type of racer as Pcars....even though Codemasters throws in that "simulation" slogan on Grid 2 lol...thats hilarious as well. Dev's get just as obnoxious as game fanboys.

Put your money where your mouth is then, dude. Don't just make grandiose claims that "I can show you in-game Forza 4 shots that look as good as that pCARs one" -- do it. The onus is on you to provide proof, not for anyone else, so come on... back up your hilarious statement that an X360 racer looks as good as pCARS -- oh and just to forestall any cheating; no, Photo Mode doesn't count. In-game, racing, gameplay, please.
~edit~
As for PGR4? Type in "Project Gotham 4" into G.Images and this was the first result. Not sure about you, but... yeah... no. That's not pCARs quality. It's not exactly ZN1/System22 Ridge Racer, but since you're the one that fired the first shot, you're the one that has to defend it. If you think this is "some of the best visuals in a racer to date" - then I'm afraid to say that the rather snazzy PC in your sig is wasted on you.

Take Shift 2 then. Same story. Even console version looks miles ahead of this garbage.
Oh wait, "it's fun™ "

GRID 2 does look pretty much like that picture. You can go back to page 8 and check what's left of my screenshots, it's from the same build pcgh used to test performance. It runs well, but GI and advanced lighting take way too much resources on a GTX560 for something that's not as stunning as the framerate hit. Advanced lighting is the only thing that is obviously noticeable because the headlights actually work when that option is turned on.
But there was never ever any frame at which I could pause and say yeah, this looks stunning. It doesn't. Cherry picking or not, those are the usual Codemasters graphics right there. The game could end up "fun", but we'll all judge that ourselves.
And I absolutely HATE the distorted HUD. Whoever came up with the idea needs to die. Or at least quit. Or tell me to use the option to turn off the HUD completely
(nope, they still didn't expand the preview build, no multiplayer, no free races, no customization, no career progress, nothing yet...just demo-like impressions)

As good as GRID 2, perhaps.
As a side note, welcome back, I actually kinda missed you.

Hey, Kart racing in GT5 is friggin' awesome! xD I'm still chuckling at Polyphony for trying to pass it off as part of their "Real Driving Simulator" series, because it really isn't. It's enormously fun (for those of us that prefer arcade racers over sims) but that's just it; arcade racing. It's not a sim any more, certainly nothing like the first two and - arguably - 3rd and 4th as well.
