total recall has a nice aesthetic but it falls apart in editing and story direction.
It ends up boring rather than action packed as advertised. IF anything watch the directors cut as it has a scene in it that's not crucial to anything, but it's a nice tidbit.

dark shadows is like any typical burton movie. looks nice, feels nice, but it sucks story wise. it's a kids movie, it feels like it's a tv show more than a movie.

Either way you'll be bored unless you like that sort of thing.

The director's cut makes Total Recall remake quite watchable. Make sure you watch it on a decent setup. I like that car dropping scene - I must say Smile

I'm quite the fan of the original, so don't ask me how the new one compares.

But if you can look at it as a standalone film - then it's not that bad.

If I ignore the old version, I'd probably rate it 6/10 - and I'm a tough critic.

Dark Shadows is basically shit - but then again, I'm not a big fan of the new Burton. In fact, I wasn't a big fan of the old one, either - though he used to be better.

Hansel and Gretel - 6/10

It lacked humor, something in style of Army of Darkness. The characters were wooden as fuck.

A haunted house - 6/10. Was kinda interesing to begin with, but that lame shit dragged too much for my taste. Wasn't that funny later on Smile
Parker - typical Statham 7.5/10. Some decent action, Lopez needs more makeup Very Happy

The Place beyond the Pines - 7/10
Was good up until Godslen exits middway thru. Also it is 2.5 hours long. About one hour too long for me. Good watch though and recommended. Different type of flick which is refreshing. Eva Mendes still looks so hot!!

Kon-Tiki (2012) - Well, as usual, I don't really know how to rate it as it just doesn't feel right for me when it comes to movies (and not only lately)... an 8/10 I guess?! It was a really cool movie nevertheless. Smile

The problem with the DC is that it is edited really badly, especially sound editing and mixing. There are places where the music stops or starts abruptly, other times where some sound effects are missing. It's like they didn't have the budget and/or will to finish it properly, and probably paid some newbie editor to reinsert the extra footage they had laying around.

Project x 9.9/10

i know what you're going to say lol, but let me elaborate. The first 1/3 to 1/2 is maybe a 2/10. I skipped through most of it. Lame teen drama and shit, but then, fuck, when the party goes all haywire ... i was hooked ...

I do a lot of parties, but that ? Fuck it ... I WANT ! And they sure went out all on destruction and mayhem haha.

So, if (and i think you should) are going to watch this "movie", skip through the first third and then just sit back and enjoy Smile

Yop. Exactly that. Fucking worst cut ever! That one scene where they just used the same shot at different angles... for 5 fucking minutes.

Even the moment when she's about to open the closet doors, you didn't find that suspenseful? I though it was, and there were plenty of more like it.

Dark Shadows:

4/10 typical Tim Burton, but the older I get the less I find myself enjoying these types of films.

The Hunger Games:

5/10 really the only reason I saw this was because everyone made such a big deal out of the movie/books. Honestly I ended up fast forwarding through 50% of the movie, <3 Woody Harellson though!

It was made with a specific target audience in mind.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Sadly, the target audience for this movie is mostly semi-emancipated teenage girls.
