Or you can simply mount the mini-ISO, but either method works just fine.

Vampire The Masquerade: Ultimate Bloodlines [DVD]
Got this one, could not find the Hoodlum. Files missing on Usenet...
Got this torrent and it does say Steam somewhere, still GCW 1.2 crack yes?

Maybe it utilizes one of them Steam loaders, but nevertheless, GCW crack definitely works on any edition (also on FilePlanet time-demo setup which is not available anymore, but worked like a charm).

It's hard to tell, man. Maybe it's a problem with that specific release (it does seem to be repackaged into one dvd, so who knows)? It's not a win7 compatibility issue, per se, since installed from original CDs and with unoficial patch the game runs fine on that system (at least it does for me).

It's a long shot, but try without the crack and just using the mini image?

Hm, this was the problem with some fake 1.2 cracks from the past...
Just in case, copy both vampire.exe and vampire.dll to appropriate folders (not in the same folder, search for those files before copying).
The thing is, unofficial patch already contains multiple vampire.dll versions to match all versions of the game (retail CD, direct2drive/fileplanet, steam and cracked), so it should handle everything automatically and that's why vampire.exe alone is enough. So if problem persists, remove that shit and get the regular CD version from WBB.

I recall having troubles with the mini-image last time I played it. I grabbed disc 1 from the Vampire_The_Masquerade-Bloodlines-VNGCLONE release and used that instead. I spy an 800-odd day old post of it - using vng-vmb1 as a search term should get you what you need.
Also, if you have Python installed, you'll likely need to copy across the Python files from the patch's extras folder.
Urge to reinstall rising. Dammit.

I wonder why they did that out of the blue, CCP canceled their Vampire MMO awhile ago so it's not like there would've been competition with a mod.

Protecting intellectual property rights, making sure the brand or property doesn't get sullied by the efforts of amateurs.
It's better to sit on a property than it is having someone else using it and doing a better job with it than you are.

Ah...kind of like Gearbox forcing Interceptor to cancel both of their Duke Nukem games.

That was always going to happen, regardless of who owned the IP. It's the way IP law works. It has happened countless times before, and it will no doubt happen countless times in the future. Unless you host all your shit in China maybe.

It is not just the Bloodlines game - CCP owns the whole WoD universe (which includes VtM and VtR). They would still have to use the setting and the lore even if they rename the characters.
Were they going to sell it somehow? Although I guess with the current ad revenue structure the website itself is a form of monetization.

Think their plans for Greenlight, made them a target.
Still a shitty thing to do from CCP. But eh... that's what you get with all these crappy IP laws, can't even mod anymore and franchises are just left to die.

No? It was supposed to be a remake so even if they call it "Vampires Are Cool" they will still be using the same plot, etc.
If they change absolutely everything then it won't be a remake.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Theoretically you could do a remake legally as long as you never used any of their marks (VtM, Bloodlines, etc.) and didn't distribute any of their original content. You'd have to cook up some way to inject all the required assets (VO, subtitles/quest text, etc.) on the end user's side from a local copy of the original game. Which seems nigh on impossible to implement, especially given they were using Unity (as far as I know).
