Gameplay:
Unlike games such as Left 4 Dead, State of Decay will focus more on the survival. Stealth, evasion, distractions, securing the player's resources, and moving through the world will be more emphasized than zombie combat. The game will be open world, where the players choices will be an important factor. Players will be able to build structures such as sniper towers and barricades to defend against the infected population. Food, water, shelter, ammo, and supplies such as copper wire will be necessary for survival. To obtain these supplies, the player will need to go on raids to abandoned supermarkets and many other shops, or the player can grow food themselves. The player will also be able to rescue other NPC survivors and other online gamers, such as electricians, to help with defense, repair damaged electronics in the player's base, or to help with the player's raiding parties. However, the player will also be able to be a lone wolf, moving from building to building trying to survive. The player's choices will affect how the gameplay evolves.
That is why Dead Rising1 was so awesome. Hundreds of slow zombies

OK, so since the pnet-dev version is out, I think we should move the conversation here.
So I just played it, game seems neat, for those who haven't been following this game, think of it as a more casual Dead Rising, without the time limits, save restrictions and all that. That not a bad thing, but it depends on where you stand with these things.
I haven't played too much (10-15 mins) and so far so good, but the frame rate is choppy in most spots -- for ex. walking/running around and moving the camera. I guess I should expect a lot of bugs and glitches but that's a given with a dev vers like this.
Will play more!
Like deelix said in the XBLA thread, too bad there's no system link or at least some local co-op mode.
Been playing since I woke up, about to move my home base to the largest town. Got enough rep to make some more outposts, only got 4 so far. Anyway, iv lost 3 of my people, thankfully are there lots of poor souls out there just waiting to be rescued 2 of those 3 guys where instantly killed by a large ass zombie type that just ripped them apart Watch out for those...
Down to 9 survivors now, got to take it easy Loose them all and you got to start over it seems like :/
Edit: And yeah, the frame rate is really terrible It HAS to be fixed until official rls.
Oh man this game is addicting. I know I shouldn't invest too much time in it as I'm going to play the release vers, from scratch, when it's out.
Also scratch what I just said about time limits. Some activities have a timer on them, though, at least at first, it's not clear witch ones do and don't. Or maybe they all do but some are more generous that others.
And I wish the log/journal would do a better job about keeping track on activities, and make it easier to manage them. It gets clogged up with both finished, camp/misc and active activities that after 3 hrs, checking that just leaves you more confusing. You don't even check that any more, so you end up relying on the map as it provides a clearer sens of what is there to and where.
I really hope they fix the performance issues, and tighten up the controls as those are pretty laggy at time as well, and alongside the bad framerate, it can get pretty unresponsive at times.
But this might need more than 2 months to polish so I wouldn't be surprised if it still has all these issues at launch.
game is fun as hell, I cant belive its a xbla game. nighttime you get raped by zombies, freaking hordes of them come at you. btw framerate is fine here what ver dash you have? I got 16203 and runs smooth
God damn. 15 hours in and this game is FUCKING phenomanal. The framerate will hopefully be fixed but they put so much into this that I am ignoring that and just playing. There is so much to do is is amazing. It really does play like a fan mod for zombie games with little things you wouldn't normally see in a retail game. I can't wait for the full release to review it. Just a great time. Damn.
Pros:
Large World
Random missions have meaning
Upgrades to homes
Ability to move homes to better locations
Tons of characters
Easy controls(though impacted by FPS at times)
Fun...just fun
Cons:
Dat Framerate
GFX are sometimes good sometimes bad. No awards here

How do you upgrade new facilities? xD
Gotten advice about larger sleeping area, work shop and library but iv yet to find out how I add them :/
PRess up on the D pad and go to the map of the facility and you should have empty spots(green boxes) move the curser to them and choose an addition. You need supplies(building) its funny the one thing I can't figure out is how to get MORE building supplies. I just seem to get them randomly.
FYI if you are out of spaces to build...I think you are SOL.
Well I realized it was actually 22 hours now. I love that there are a couple of places to move the home. I also found some excellent pickings back at the very beginning of the game. One thing is...the world is huge. My god. Really when looking at it, it seems like it won't be that big but after 22 hours of somewhat shallow exploring and gameplay I just now moved my home(which you don't need to do). And thats in the from the first little town. Damn.
Also the building sieges are insanely long. I think I held off a zombie attack for maybe 45 minutes before cleaning out the area. I can see some people disliking the length but to me it was harrowing.
I have to say the game has it going on. But you have to REALLY understand the despair of the game. Friends WILL die. The death of one in particular, after maybe 17 hours of gameplay, hurt worse than I have felt in a game in years. It dawned on me that I had grown attached to him like a character in the Walking Dead or something. When he died I just sat there for maybe 2-3 minutes saddened by his death. I also love how the other characters say little things about each other when a person dies. Sweet addition.
Also loving how many characters you can be and how they each interact and say different things to the mission givers. Fairly cool. They go on their own adventures and sometimes you have to go safe them from themselves. Really well done.
Lastly, I have slowed started to feel the pinch from using the vehicles too soon. Each time I decide I want a car I have to go further and further out and so I have begun collecting them and treating them like money:)

I'm on 16197. I might update, but I'll wait to see if the dash vers is affecting performance.

16203 and its framerate hitches horribly. Basically the only issue I even have with the game. Its not optimized for true gameplay yet.

Yeah, agree about not thinkin the world was that big at first, but god damnit, its big and there is ALWAYS something to do. Im always focusing on missions before anything else. Two of my 3 dead survivors (except the one that get infected) have been ripped appart. Those damn fat bastards -.-
I really need to get my number up if I want more outposts :/
Anyways, let me know if you have found some great stuff The only thing worth mentioning is that I found a shotgun in a cave.
And yeah, its kinda hard to watch more and more cars being damaged... taken out quite a few zombie hordes Spawning one from ray isn't an option at 100rep

Fat bastards are my bane. I ruined 2 trucks trying to kill them and one of them blew the truck up with me in it.
The game is like a movie. I can see that when this gets released we are going to have people telling huge stories about the things they did. I mean a couple hours is an adventure movie. I have leapt out of windows onto car hoods, slid across them, sneaked my way through a gulley away from a zombie horde, and then hoofed it across 2 massive corn fields only to hide out in a farm and find survivors there and then spent an hour being besieged. Only to realize I had dropped my rucksack ALL the way back at the first building because it weighed too much. Then I had to decide what to do. Go back and get the vital ammo...or not. Honestly I had butterflies in my stomach trying to decide if I was going to.
I went back.
I died:)
After reading all the things from people that are playing this game already only makes me looking more forward to this game.
If they improve the framerate and draw in, usually the last two things optomized anyway, I feel that this game has a chance to be a monster hit. It literally surprises you every couple minutes with something new, larger, more impressive. It just has no right to be an XBLA game. The amount of content is through the roof and no crashes, no bugs, no unfinished bits I can find. I am crossing my fingers for these peeps.
The real question is will people play through the first 20-45 minutes. Because its like an expanded tutorial and hopefully people get that and understand it. Because it could be considered a buzzkill in todays day and age of people wanting instant action.
Fat zombies, no problem -- just shoot them in the head.
I hope they fix the zombies as well.
First of all, why the fuck are zombies runing like savages and climbing fences?! Even the ones with barbed wire on them -- witch cannot be climbed by players/NPCs. It not only looks silly, it can also brake the gameplay/atmosphere. They need to fix that asap!
Then, the zombies in general, they behave unzombie ish at times. They look like they're suffering from split personality disorder. One moment they're all zombieing classic zombie style, and the next they get all psyched like some 24 days later zombies on red bull.
It looks goofy a hell!
They need to take note from the zombies in Dead Rising. Especially if they're going to spawn zombies around you every 5 sec.
