ATI 7xxx users can fix the flickering shadows and really boost framerate by forcing DX9 :
Navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%\4A Games\Metro LL\ and open user.cfg with text editor.
Locate line r_api 2 and change it to r_api 0 for DirectX 9 renderer.
Change user.cfg to read-only to prevent the game overwriting changes.
It works fine, but you lose the DX11 features (tesselation mainly, don't know if SSAA and SSAO are DX11 exclusive ). The game became playable even on Very High for me, and the graphical differences are not big.

I would be able to check those things in real life but real rangers never check their ammo |
So you never reload your weapon before jumping in front of your enemy? Well, you would be dead in a second in a real war! |
He points at the fact that in Ranger mode you can't check your ammo. At all. You can't even count ammo yourself, round by round. TAB displays nothing. You don't even know how much ammo as currency you have. What the hell? Is that some kind of joke?
If you want to make game without UI - you can't just remove it, you have to do it right, adapt gameplay for it.
NOTE to people who start the game with DLC - start in ORIGINAL mode. Believe me, it is MUCH more enjoyable, choose HARDCORE and go. |
Yeah, sounds lame. In their defense they said it's not meant for 1st time playthroughs.

The devs said DX11 should be 15% faster than DX9 (with tess etc disabled of course). On AMD of course anything goes, until they release drivers.

DX9 runs like shit here, worse then DX11...
Even tho i get better scaling with DX9, DX11 has better fps.
So far i didn't see those flickering shadows anyway yet..
(everything maxed, except SSAA and tess in some)
DX11 with maxed tess:
DX11 without tess (but rest maxed):

The flickering shadows are probably just bug in the lightning system, since i have noticed it in 2 places (on both Nvidia and AMD). Some people are tho getting some major flickering, which is probably driver issue on single cards, since 13.4WHQL is best for single and 13.5 beta 2 for crossfire.

Finished it here as well. Definitely a nice ride. And definitely better than the first installment. And while everything else isn't anything special, the graphics and atmosphere really create the game a special spirit of its own. Surely an FPS game no one should stay away from.

No idea its just guess. I didn't played much. Got past the shooting range tutorial. No point ruining my fun with lag like im back in AC with Boston.
Will try this DX9 solution tonight, but i doubt it will help.

I put it on DX9 and I'm playing it on high settings 1080p on a GTS450 at good framerate.
a) tessellation is fucking stupid and I don't notice it anyway
b) this game is intentionally unoptimized and forced in DX11 so idiots go out running and buy 3 GTX690 SLI (smart move on their part)
c) fuck tessellation and fuck physix even without the latter the "uncovering car" scene looked nice.

Anyone knows what is the difference between g_diff_start & g_game_difficulty in users.cfg. Can I increase my difficulty without restarting the whole campaign by changing g_game_difficulty to 2 from 1?

The approach towards the well being and its influence on human psychology leads to positivity and enthusiasm. Study that has been initiated to examine the well being and positive psychology approach has outcomes from the audience. The response from the audience is little varied; however, the majority of answers surprisingly reflect quite similar outcome/results. By reflecting on this theory, it stands to reason the customers who bought the ranger DLC are the true fans of the game.

SweetFX seems to work fine, at least the effects i use (SMAA, Lumasharpen, vibrance). Not so sure about HDR and bloom, i did some tests and didn't see any noticeable difference.
