Just picked it up after kicking and screaming about it still not being a proper D&D game Razz

Not too bad, not great by any D&D means...but as a game its not horrible. So far its MUCH better than DDO was, and thats a start Smile

But i really do enjoy the foundry, its not as full or rich as the NWN 1 and 2 editor, but still pretty powerful for what you get in an MMO.I spent perhaps 7 hours yesterday playing with it learning how to use all it features. Being a 20+ year tabletop DM I can see having a lot of fun making missions in it.

Dialogue from one of the lichs whose philactery you are supposed to put at a good resting spot, after several locations being rejected by the lich I come upon a broken stone:

"What have they done to this place!

This would have been a perfect location. Commanding view, lovely stonework, and now look at it! Ruined! I bet this was done by some greedy adventurer looking for a few measly gold pieces or a paltry magic sword. I tell you, there's just no respect any more.

That does it! I've been searching for the perfect spot for a decade, and apparently there's no quiet place left on all Faerûn. Well, this is it. I'm done!

Take me to a Doomguide. Let them destroy me. I don't want to unlive on this planet anymore."

Very Happy

So you are digging this game huh? I'm playing it, hit lvl 20 with cleric last night, but I keep wondering why. I'm sick and lonely, so I guess this for now fills the need for human interaction, but I still wonder.

Well, there is a certain enjoyable element to it.

But I would not go so far as to say that I'm "digging it".

It's slightly above average, which is enough to make me play it a bit more. Smile

I made it to around level 8ish..then I started playing with the quest maker...and well, 5 days later I'm still level 8 Razz Once I figured out how to work it, I havent done anything else. haha

But it guess that my type, out of 15 years of playing D&D, I was DM for 99% of the time, by either choice, or request. I like making things more than playing them Smile Why I think sim city/simulation/whatever games are my weakness.

Now if they could work out the few annoyances in the editor, by making a few tweaks, I could see me playing this long as it has the playerbase to wander around in my quests Razz

Yeah that's annoying, i got now a couple of times that the NPC dialog just won't register my click or key press, thus being stuck Neutral

Are you doing foundry missions? I've had a few like that on the few days I played a character.
Some people setup missions and they are buggy, broke, or just not finishable (is that a word?) because of the person not testing his own quest.

Me too, breaks the immersion when you got to stop and figure out wtf is wrong..lol
and I hate to be one of the ones repeating the line "well its in beta". Because people misuse it to imply that huge, oversights of core gameplay or game mechanics that should have been looked into during alpha are still horribly broken.

But here is sort of applies, I expect a few mission bugs, item bugs, and random "hey, you guys this one thing here..its broke" during a beta.

Cleric's are absolutely critical for (current) epic end game runs.
We normally prefer 2 clerics for the dungeons. You can still get by with 1, but it's harder. If no clerics in party, quit, and re-queue.

So yes, clerics are critical and you will be loved.

PS. I'm not talking 16 lvl dungeons. Any idiot can survive those. I'm talking t2/t3 epic dungeons.

AH exploit. Seems you could make trillions from the AH by bidding minus offers. This was going on for a week it seems but yesterday it got leaked and many people used it since.

Enchanted keys where selling for 50 million and so on.

People are giving away high tier companions for free etc.

They are now talking about a rollback but nothing is serious. Either way this game took a huge hit.

beta's these days are nothing else but a free pr stunt and hardly are for finding and reporting bugs..

A proper beta back in the day with f2p mmo's, would had a market where you could buy the stuff for free etc, till the game was properly released.

But PW is known for doing this, they release games in beta, with a market that is fully ready. Make asmuch $$ from it as possible, then if something goes wrong you get a nice "it's a beta, it can happen" answer..

For example in Battle of the Immortals, bought 2 items there in shop. Turned out that those items weren't even ingame, so they didn't work at all.
So €20,- down the drain, i complained and got that answer said above here back. Tho have to honestly say that almost a year later, i got the item refunded...

I'm betting there will be a wipe

Section 16 in the TOS:
"When playing some Beta Games, you may accumulate treasure, experience points, equipment, or other value or status indicators within the Beta test. This data may be reset at any time during the testing process, and it may be reset when the particular game completes this testing phase. In this case, all player history and data will be erased and each player will return to novice status."

Except they already promised there wouldn't be any more wipes. A damned if you do, damned if you don't situation for them, though I can't see how they could feasibly salvage the situation with anything other than a full rollback.

There is no Zen available on Beholder server. It was all purchased by
exploiters who made billions or trillions of AD and then purchased all Zen
available. This exploit and event greatly benefits Perfect World, and that is
why this exploit happened and is continuing unabated.

Let's take the example of Enchanted Keys. Enchanted cost Zen. One Zen = one
U.S. penny; 100 Zen = U.S.$1. Astral Diamonds are an in-game only currency. A
player makes AD simply by playing the game. AD can then be used to purchase
Zen, which is needed to buy things like Bags, or Character Lots, or Bank Slots,
or Enchanted Keys.

So a person can avoid spending real-life money to get these types of goods by
getting AD and selling AD for Zen. The lower the AD price of Zen, the more a
player's AD is worth in terms of an Astral Diamonds ---> Zen (U.S.$) ratio.
This benefits the player and hurts Perfect World. The higher the exchange
ratio, the less buying power a player has with Astral Diamonds, and the more
likely it will be a player might go and actually purchase Zen with real-life
money to use in-game.

For example, an Enchanted Key costs 125 Zen, or U.S.$1.25. During the first
week of the game, the Zen-Astral Diamond exchange was 1:420. 42,000 Astral
Diamonds = 100 Zen or U.S.$1. Last night the ratio was down to 1:365. 36,500
Astral Diamonds = 100 Zen or U.S.$1. That means every single player had Astral
Diamonds that were more valuable, and therefore were less likely to need to go
and buy, with real-life money, Zen to use in the game.

Then this AH exploit happens. Exploiters get billions or trillions of AD and
buy all available Zen. Now the Zen, if any is for sale, is back to a ratio of
1:500. 50,000 Astral Diamonds = 100 Zen or U.S.$1. All Astral Diamonds, for
all players, is worth much less. It will take much more Astral Diamonds to buy
an Enchanted Key to open all those Nightmare Lockboxes, or a new Character Slot,
or Bank Slots, etc. Players are now more likely to get and purcahse Zen from
Perfect World in order to buy these items in-game, since our in-game currencies'
real world value has seriously fallen.

Perfect World is not talking about a server
rollback or character wipe, which would be the only ways to correct this issue.

You want an Enchanted Key or Character Slot? You are unable to purchase Zen
from the in-game Zen-Astral Diamond exchange at the last moment I was in-game.
You would have to go to Perfect World's Zen site, input your credit card
information, and purchase Zen with real-life money. Astral Diamonds are now
worthless. I was buying Enchanted Keys only with Zen exchanged from Astral
Diamonds. I cannot do that anymore.

Perfect World wins.

I would like my $60 back, please. I expect that to happen like I expect to wake
up tomorrow and be LeBron James. Another lesson learned--do not spend real-life
money on a Perfect World game, ever, or at least until they actually officially
launch it. Only use credit cards with some kind of serious buyer protection if
you ever Perfect World some of your hard-earned money. $60 is an expensive
lesson, but I did learn it. Oh, yes, I did

They won't wipe. People are panicking too much for nothing. The AH and exchange are offline until further notice and they are banning all the exploiters. Why would a game "die" because of an exploit like this? It's solvable. Anyway, I hope they don't rollback, cause I just hit lvl 59, I need like 50% for 60...

Not trying to defend them or anything, but that is bullshit. Saying how PW did this on purpose just to keep the AD to ZEN exchange rate higher is idiotic, considering Star Trek, which is also their game, the exchange rate for ZEN There is like 100 of Star Trek currency for 1 ZEN....
