Ths while only an opinion makes intresting reading
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/analysis-xbox-one-how-microsoft-might-posititively-reposition-pre-owned-games/0116059

I wonder if this is not like apple and the ebooks. Microsoft look to want to be controlling the market in every segment.

Would a way around the trading with your friends be to dismiss achievements ( I never cared about them but some seem to believe they define who they are) all together.
So buy a game - set up an account specifically for that game. Sell on or lend or tade game and account together.
Delete account from the sellers machine when the game goes out of his hands.

Read that earlier. 10% of that goes to the high street shops? Bye bye Game and Gamestation etc... (not that I care)

If anything, this should increase xbox exclusive games made by 3rd parties. It's a win win for them. Before, publishers got nothing from used games, but now this will probably make many people buy new games instead of used if the price difference is that small, which gives publishers a greater profit. But even if it doesn't, they still get a profit.

Xbox 1 is truly a device made for publishers, and not gamers.

TV achievements is no laughing matter, it's actually sad. One the one side extra incentive for higher engagement. On the other hand pretty precice analytical data, that is worth a lot.

I'm going to make a serious post, when I have the time about the XB1, but you people really think people at MS are stupid or "not getting it". They are getting it very much.

This section of the forum consists mostly of hardcore gamers. So when they show us that bs conference, without any gameplay shown, what the fuck do you expect the reaction to be? You want people being excited about all this bs then go to GT, Ign, and yahoo.

Mate, they announced way before the unraveling, that this specific event will not be about games. They said it upfront. Mismatched expectations - also, bad decision to start it off like this from MS. I'd wait until at least e3 to make up my mind about this.

While I agree that we should wait until e3 to see the whole picture, info that's been released up to now is very off putting.

The TV achievements are not a big deal for me since my TV is almost 24/7 turned on, but I doubt this service will be available in my country.

I agree a lot with this, they are trying to do a lot of things which has some positives, at some point cable providers and all these different avenues of digital video distribution need to converge and be in 1 place where I can watch what I want when I want which is their ultimate goal. But they are losing focus or at least the focus that the majority of their sales will come from which is the gamers. I do hold hope for them because I am primarily an online gamer and their online service trumps Sony's and if what i hear is true (hosted multiplayer servers) then that is a gigantic selling point if Sony lacks such things.

They are somehow thinking that this will take off like some cheap $40 DVD player, dafuq? Laughing

EDIT: meh

"Every generation, as you've probably heard, has grown approximately 30%," he said. "So this generation is about 300 million units. Most industry experts think the next generation will get upwards of about 400 million units. That's if it's a game console, over the next decade.

"We think you can go broader than a game console, that's our aim, and you can go from 400 million to potentially upwards of a billion units. That's how we're thinking of the Xbox [One] opportunity as we go forward.

Seems like he's talking about the grand total between ALL consoles from this new generation.
Still, a billion for that is just insane... unless he's taking into account some RROD2 feature...? Laughing

Source on that? Sony has been running newspaper adverts and their last one was printed -- why is this fake? For instance;
