3, and you need an active DP adapter for a third monitor.

The 6 display support will be on a not-yet-released 5870 Smile

Well both brands have to do something to get attention right Smile

It's not as if PhysX has been widely adopted, and the few minor uses for CUDA are negligible as well. Although CoreAVC is absolutely fucking brilliant, I'd rather see both companies stop being asses and work on getting OpenCL properly supported and adopted.

Gave it a try with my 2 monitors btw, and it actually works rather well. Even have two different sizes; 22" (LG W2253V, 1080p) and 20" (Samsung SM206BW, 1680x1050). Despite the minor difference in height, it works just fine Smile

CoreAVC brilliant... You mean between all the decoding artifacts? Laughing Google "coreavc weightp" to see what I'm talking about. Practically any encode using a recent build of x264 will have artifacts due to changes made in x264 to make it more compatible with the standards.

It has just now been fixed, after months, in CoreAVC 2.0. And god knows how many bugs that will have when it is in widespread use. They have hired some of the x264 developers, so maybe now, after years, they will finally have a competent software.

Can't say that I've noticed that before lol

CoreAVC is brilliant in the fact that a lowpowered GF9300-based HTPC (like the one I built!) can run anything tho
The only audible part in my HTPC is the hard drive, kept everything passive where I could, need to get an SSD to make it totally silent!

That change in x264 seems to be like 1-2 months old, guess I've been watching stuff encoded with an older version o_O

These are just the recent problems. CoreAVC has had so many problems, while I don't remember ffmpeg having any issues ever (or other decoders - even Microsoft's decoder, when given a stream up to level 4.1 has no issues). But there is always something with them. And it takes them months to release patches.

I gave up trying to figure out how to use the CUDA cores, besides I out folded everyone in the group long time ago. I wonder has there been any good to come from all this folding?

personally I tried it but it always eats up 100% of my CPU and my temp goes 80C+ all the time on my 3900x
just removed it
it would be nice if it had a way to throttle to 50% or something like that

You can limit the number of threads you donate.

it always uses CPU, you can limit GPU usage from what I tested

You can set it to only accept 12-thread jobs. Remove the default "-1 CPU" configuration (which means "use all threads") and add a custom one.
