Seems I just found a solution to my problem. I only have to start one of the two main .exe's as administrator and it runs flawlessly as well from there on out. *phew* Thank the computer gods, I didn't have to tinker more and rack my brain till I ran out of sweat to get out of the situation. Very Happy

Most honest review that I've read so far: http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/grid-2-review.70050/

I'm downloading the ISOdemo just for the lolz since I already know that I'm not gonna enjoy this Razz (even if I quite liked the first one for what it was, an arcade racing game less arcade than the most arcade ones xD)

@ the hidden cockpit mode, genuine Disk Locked Content material there Very Happy..I'm not even surprised to be honest.. Laughing

What this means in practice is that the benefit to our vehicle models, environment models and the hundreds of other things in the environment sapping memory, is huge. By making this educated call, we can use the extra available memory to make the on-track racing a truly mind-blowingly immersive experience.

For example, we can author and run higher resolution vehicle models with more detailed geometry. We can feature higher resolution external vehicle textures and work further detail into our environment textures.

In all seriousness though, I am having a lot of fun with this. It's GRID... for dudebro kiddies that want flashy visuals. I'm sure playing at higher difficulty levels would result in a more "sim"-like experience in regards to handling/assits, but really; it's arcade through and through -- and yes, it's very simplified. I'd even go as far as to say this is more like a visual upgrade to Ridge Racer, pre-NOS/Criterion years.

Haha, Codemasters presents "Buzzwords: The Game" Very Happy

Same exact -false- pre-release marketing as Ghosts, definitely not a coincidence since the target audience is the same. xD It's a shame that it doesn't include Ken Block, Trevis Pastrana and Vaughn Gittin Jr, it would have been teh bomb! *hurrs around dressed like a pear* grinhurt

Well, to be fair those are under the (missing) hood textures and qualify as internal vehicle textures. Clearly their claim applied to external textures. I bet that hood looked glorious.

The presentation is horrible, as usual these days, but i honestly liked the arcade handling (I had low expectations) and the AI was challenging in hard. What is unbearable is the amount of time the game allowed me to play. It's those fucking 1 minute races for the ADD generation all over again. I spent more time watching how many retarded fans decided to join me that actually playing the game. Game designers these days are quite simply retarded, or i must be getting old, really old.

So if I enjoyed the first game, would it be safe to say that I'd enjoy this one too? It's not a complete bastardization of the series, right?

I was one of "5%" that used the cockpit cam, so hopefully it's possible to fix it. Hell, I'm even going to try the blurry ass version if it's available. Far Cry 3's vehicle driving had some terrible motion blur and I was able to tolerate that.

How much customization (tuning, part upgrades, cosmetic, etc) can you do in this game?

In the graphics settings there are two options Advanced Blending(Intel), and 2. Smoke Shadows(Intel). From what ive found so far AVX is required to support these. Am i missing something?

Scaling is very good with nvidia (680 gtx sli), no stuttering at all, can't wait to test it on 780 gtx/titan gtx sli Very Happy

They're Haswell specific features, as far as I know. AVX is available on Sandy/Sandy-E/Ivy and Haswell ... as well as Bulldozer/Piledriver on AMD.

I do have avx but these options dont make any sense since I'd need to use the integrated gpu to turn them on.

e: tho, guess I could benchmark it.

played around with it a bit, liked the previous one a bit better.

have everything set to the highest and msaa x8, still the game looks kinda meh, almost like grid 1 looks better. Those buildings in the chicago map for instance.. just look like big cardboard buildings with no depth or geometry at all: /

That's because they're only available on Haswell processors, which haven't been released yet. June, I think.

I'm not sure I agree with that, to be honest. Grid 2 has its faults, absolutely, and I'm not entirely convinced Grid 1 wasn't the better game all in all, the visuals in Grid 2 are certainly better and the scenery looks great too;

Mate, seriously, the features in this game REQUIRE a Haswell chip. ALL Sandy/E/Ivy chips have AVX but this game's (INTEL) features REQUIRE the Haswell. AVX on any other chip isn't enough.

I was accidentally playing on very hard until yesterday and started getting second places in season two, thinking it was on normal difficulty. After I changed it to normal everything was working the same way on the handling front except now that one driver that is always ahead of everyone else didn't have a 15 second lead over the other AI.

Hires interiors are a 512x512 texture Very Happy

Hahaha! So difficulty levels are just cheap "AI is faster and further ahead" shit? grinhurt

~edit~

I *really* dislike the beginning/end race statistics. You spent more time looking at that damned screen, showing off what you've done so far, than actually you do racing Neutral

Multiplayer has a separate career mode and always communicates with a RaceNet account which is linked to the Steam account.
There is offline splitscreen multi on PC tho...

The one thing that I didnt like about GRID 1 was that even though the muscle & tuning (jap) cars felt really good in terms of weight & turns-behavior/drift, other cars, like the GT & supersport cars (porsche, Lambo...) were too too tooo tooo faar too fast to handle precisely. Most of the time I was trying to f*'in keep the car on the tarmac, where the CPU drivers were WAY ahead of me. And the other races, like tuning & muscle I was always easily 1st place. I kinda hated this.

Is this still the case in GRID 2?

In GRID 2 I can't see any difference between the vehicles. Or its VERY minimal. They differ only by their weight, the handling is 99% the same which is bullshit.
