DLC = downloadable content.

I think you forgot what it actually is. And that only in recent (years) it has become synonym with "paid content".

DLC was born paid (despite its definition). Before it was ADDON or EXPANSION PACK or MOD. You know, like... Diablo 2 Expansion Pack or Morrowind's.

Expansion pack is hardly DLC (they are kinda similar, but not the same Wink )

DLC is pieces of content that you can download afterwards.

DLC started with the Dreamcast, predominantly with Phantasy Star Online, and it was always free. New quests would be released all the time (.... mostly in Japan.. grrrr) and they could be downloaded free of charge. Then Sega saw how popular PSO was, so they implemented the Hunter's License in PSOv2 and made you pay a monthly sub to play Sad I used to love playing PSO on the Dreamcast, it was a shame they implemented the HL in v2 Sad

Sega also had their own earlier modem-based network for the Genesis that let you download whole games, but not DLC itself.

I don't think you can change your perk choices, but yes; you can remove/reset points for your skills and abilities. There's a vendor that can do it at the Romany Camp at the start of the game or, if you're already at your hideout, you can recruit another Romany enchanter there.

i know about skill/abbility points reset, very handy, i was wandering only about PERK points
it would seem that its the only permanent decision regarding your build, even points for katarina can be reset. kinda strange.
oh well, if thats the case, whats with the "Alchemist" perk? i got it thinking it means i can insert more essence into an item, but that dosnt seem to be the case, is it just for the price of the insertion?

Yes, just the price.

i went and had a recheck, and it dosnt affect the price, nor does it allow you more essence into an item, instead it makes the combination of essences in the lab result in a smaller ESSENCE cost.
for instance, an essence of seven capacity, when combined with another seven, normally would result in a bigger essence of 14 capacity, with the alchemist perk two seven's are worth 12 instead.
very usefull afterall Smile

Sorry about that, I misread Sad Yeah - I've not seen anywhere that lets you change perks. Post about it on the forum? Perhaps they'll implement something?

It's pretty clearly stated when choosing a perk it's permanent. I doubt they'll change it with a patch.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing v1.0.07

Known issues:
The multiplayer game still has some issues. Please play it with a character created for the multiplayer only because data loss may occur sometimes.

Fixed bugs:

Multiplayer:
The Server Browser periodically refreshes the list.

A new column and filter is introduced for searching regional games. (Regional games have lower Ping and thus less lag.)

"Safety" column removed. Games are available to play if your selected Character shares this option. (Characters stored solely in Steam Cloud can join games featuring similar Characters only. Same rule applies to Hardcore Characters.)

Fixed an issue which sometimes applied after rejecting to join a Bossfight.

Fixed an issue with the Drunken Man (remained clickable if the client clicked on him).

Being invited to a Bossfight automatically cancels any teleportation attempts.

Players see the traps placed by the host.

Players can be kicked from the game during the waiting period before Bossfights.

The client returns to the Main Menu if the host disconnects during loading (loading screen)
.
Fixed an issue where conversations got stuck on the screen sometimes.

NPCs and critters synchronized.

When a conversation starts all the players are halted.

Fixed some issues with scripts restarting sometimes.

General:
Fixed an issue with the Lightning Collectors quest.

Fixed an issue with the Lost in the Ink quest.

Fixed an issue with Lady Katarina when she wandered off to gather loot after you respawned , leaving you all alone...

Fixed a rare crash near the Gorgon Pass Bridge.

Fixed an issue with the Harpies coming out of the Wishing Well.

Fixed an issue with the effect of the Earthquake spell.

Your latest Character appears in the Main Menu (even if you only have Online Characters).

Fixed an issue with Skill reset.

The Credits button in the Main Menu closes all other windows.

Interesting, how one single item can turn the tide completely regarding difficulty ("Heroic"): In late Act II I had lots of problems with my ranged char, since the explosive shot did not deal enough damage and the scattershot needed so much mana, that I could not fire enough shots to kill the mobs before you got overrun.
But then I found a yellow amulet giving +7 mana per hit (instead of "per kill" as found on most items) and all problems with scattershot were gone (adding to the +7 health per hit, which can be found on rings, too). Now I could use scattershot all the time and even the largest number of mobs could be pulverized in seconds until the final boss fight. Later I found a belt with the same enachantment (+x mana on hit seems to be an enchantment only found on amulets and belts). Weird, that one item can make such a huge difference - maybe there are still problems with the balancing.
Despite the bugs I really enjoyed this game Smile

How is that a balancing issue Confused Are you saying new, powerful items shouldn't be powerful?

No, I am not saying this. All in all the balancing was OK. I meant that the "Heroic" difficulty was pretty hard for the most playtime - until I found this item. I was only surprised how big the difference was after equipping that item.

The last time I felt such a change in difficulty by using only one different item was in Diablo II the "sparking mail", a unique item that made the game pretty easy for a certain period of playtime (until it became obsolete). That was long ago Wink

That's why I suggested to try to gather as much Critical Hit Chance bonus as possible. Random Enchanting, Essences, Epic Gear. In the end, it would pay off not just for Explosive Shot but for Normal Attack as well.

I'm with Kein on this, if you're going for a ranged build - which by its very nature does less instant damage that a melee one - you need to proc for critical chance and critical damage. I've seen some builds where the screen is naught but yellow everywhere Very Happy Of course crit-chance is great for any build, it certainly kicked ass on my magic-powered warrior, but it's of special importance to ranged characters.

Any tips on how to get good items from the gamble vendor? Is there any kind of trick? I really do not like how forging is done, it seems completely random. Sometimes I put in three shitty yellow items, which results in something great. While I input the best three yellow items, I get crap.

Gamble vendor items are not great. I got 1 epic and 1 set item..Just purchase weird/unique looking stuff.

Well, it's not really hard (except act 1 wolf and then drill).. Act 2 was very easy, just long, but it was easy fight. I'm in Act 3 now, so far it's easy except those "Igor" mobs.

Wait, huh? The part with:
"Sometimes I put in three shitty yellow items, which results in something great" confused me. You mean Gambler Shop or Artifact Forge. The latter is pretty much useless, the first one is pure random and does not require you to sell anything.

Go down to rat vendor, near the ship, you'll find a crate. You'll get mutant worm.

Now you can do fishing again. You'll get a fish.

Either eat that fish and get -10HP permanently or feed the cat nearby and you'll get rare item.

Drop your boot, cat dies and you get yellow item.

Wait, I thought you were supposed to use the bait on the fishing rod in order to get the rotten fish and you drop THAT for the cat? Not the boot..?

I meant the forge. It's not really useless, sometimes you get excellent items, but it all seems random. Near the endgame you'll have more than enough gold, so I just forge every yellow item I get.
