yep SP2 with all recent updates. as I said I even used older drivers (down to 61.77) and the forum has no topic about the crash. Last night i sent them a report about that crash and I bet you can imagine what they answered..."Please make sure you have the latest drivers for video and sound installed"...oh NO SHIT SHERLOCK, even though I included that I have the recent drivers installed. I already gave up on it, I just wait a week for a patch, if not I send it back....

This is a funny thing you should do.
Try to download the NOGRP crack. I used cracks before in the past to fix my original cd problems. Most offen its the CD protection being a bitch!

What is the difference between:

EA_Sports_NHL_06-iMMERSiON got released 5h 34m 14s ago [ GAMES / iMMERSiON | 689MB in 49F ]

and

EA_Sports_NHL_06 got released 4h 28m 56s ago [ UNKNOWN / ]

Which one is legit?

To all you hockey nuts I just did a TV shoot for Sportsnet with Pat Quinn, coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and since I am not a hockey fan couldn't care less. I bet that pisses of some of you hardcore Leaf fans Wink

@werdercanuck..I'm having the same issue with the game (crashing to desktop when referee...) Unfortunately, the no-cd included in this new release did not solved the problem. No action, reaction : I'm just pissed..good thing english is not my native language!! One thing for sure, it does'nt seems to be a cd protection related problem. I have the right specs, maybe EA screwed big time (according to what I read, I think a lot of people experiencing the same issue and nobody seems to have a clue about a plausible solution (except to set the vsync option to always on, but that's not doing the trick) . BTW, if you or anybody find something..I'm all ears

Cheers,

Someone in need of a fix

Edit: I read that everyone with that issue owns an athlon processor (thunderbird or XP). That makes sens coz that's what I have. If that's the case, I think the only solution is to wait for an upcoming patch, but we all know that EA dislike to recognize their own mistakes and are not really willing to release patches.

WTFM8, AND YOU DIDN'T STAB HIM IN THE CHEST OR FACE HORRIFICALLY?

I hate Quinn. He's the reason the team still goes old, along with JFJ. I wish they'd fire him and bring in some youth.

Anyway, I've started playing online a lot, and raping shit.

everybody with that issue has to wait for a patch, since the support doesnt have a clue whats going on, or as you mentioned won't admit that they screwed amd users up. I already regret it that I bought this game, this is the last friggin time I bought a game from EA Evil or Very Mad

That's not an error or a mistake. You just have to go into Audio Settings and set ON-Ice Sound to off, then it will use commentary

I play the ps2 version of this game but since so many have experienced problems and blame it on bad AthlonXP support, I just had to try it. I'm running a very old xp1700 at around 2100mhz and I have no problems at all. No crash whatsoever through a full 10min match, in any mode.
The 'referee drop the puck' crash is no where to be seen. The conclusion, it's problary something else in your systems that screw things up.

My full system is: AthlonXP1700@~2100, 9800pro@412/378, 640mb, latest drivers.

A CPU is an unlke source of you're problem, sound card (onboard cards are not that well supported) or video card is more likely, anyways, you'll have to wait for a patch and hope for better times.

Yuh, anybody who lets Hoglund and Renberg have a regular shift has got a few screws loose...

I see from the pics the goalis got their faces in game when wearing masks, nice.

I'm totally lost..what a pain in the neck...at least i understand that everebody with a kt133 or kt266 chipset are experiencing the same thing and that the problem is only present with some Athlons config. Maybe the problem relies more on a combination with an ABIT mobo..wtf, I should just give up on this but maybe it's the extra price to pay after the purchase of a game...sometimes life is a whore and she cost damn to much..

not just ABIT, I'm running a ECS mobo, and my mate ASUS...I never have any problems with games I download, usually only with games I BUY. That does it, I never gonna buy a game again!!! Evil or Very Mad

Ok. I've got a very similar problem to you guys except I get no graphical corruption in my menu - thats fine. It loads up fine. I can go into all the optin screens without any problems at all until I try to run the game. Select teams and a few seconds after the ref has dropped the puck then BANG! PC shuts down.
Doesnt reboot or restart or nothing - just goes off. Nada. Nuthin. Fuck all. Power off! lol
Turn the PC back on again and all is fine. No error message either. Tried legal CD, mounting an image, No-CD crack. Everything. No good.
Tried the patch of the EA FTP site but that dont seem to do anything.
My specs....
Intel P4 @ 3.4Ghz
1Gb PC4000 RAM
Asus P4C800 Mobo, Intel 875P Chipset with latest bios updates
Geforce 5950 Graphics with Official 77.72 drivers
SB Audigy sound card with latest drivers.
20Gb+ Spar HDD space.
Using WIN XP with SP1 and all current updates.
I have tried everything I know...different drivers for mobo, sound card and graphics. No joy. I've even tried enabling V-sync and disabling it and still no joy. Sad
Tried different resolutions too...800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024. Still no good.
Anyways, sorry for the long boring post but just wanted to throw my name in the hat about all these problems for NHL. Anybody wanting to purchase this on the PC I'd advise to stay clear of this game for the time being until EA at least acknowledge this problem and tries to sort this crap out! Mad
