Reported for insulting.

You're assuming this is not gonna be a half assed port.

The game is a bit of a kick in the balls for old school Castlevania fans.

Aye Sad I think that's what put me off when I tried the 360 version; I'm a HUGE Castlevania nut, but this just didn't twig for me; it doesn't look like Castlevania, doesn't play like Castlevania and doesn't sound like Castlevania, so I guess my CV prejudice is a little too strong, add to that the fact that you need to buy two addon packs before you get the proper ending, and that just sealed the deal for me. I'll happily try it again on PC though, higher res, better framerate, complete experience.

~edit~

This, however, is freakin' magnificent!

It doesn't sound like it?

No you're right, what Oscar Araujo did on the game is much much superior to any of the previous attempts.

He's a classical composer.

As much as I loved the old themes what Araujo did is simply a breathtaking standalone score.

From the trailer (where we could see cutscene on the game engine or gameplay parts) it didn't seem textures were so much hi-res.

Sorry, I only just saw this. It would be a shame if the port was just that, a pure port without anything to really make it stand out, but either way .. I'll still check it out, at least it will have the final two addons that are required to actually finish the game Laughing

Isn't that what they said?
(Support for higher resolutions and includes the DLC.)

I don't expect a full overhaul of the game for the PC version even if that would have been very nice of them.
(I doubt keyboard+mouse will be given much focus either over gamepad though since I don't use one nor even have one I won't notice the difference, ha ha!)

EDIT: Is this using UE3?

EDIT: I don't mean that as a overly negative thing, what I mean is that they could easily compile for the PC platform if so (With very little additional work being required.) and UE3 even if it's a earlier build should still support PC pretty efficiently even if it's rarely utilized fully in most multi-platform games.
(Up to 4096x4096 textures - higher in later builds - 4096 shadow resolution, better streaming of content and support for DX10/DX11 should such be desired just to name some simpler things, again though I doubt it'll be utilized, multi threading and CPU scaling is pretty good too from what I know and the engine does support x64 too even if we've never really seen it used.)

(Custom key bindings, extensive console commands, several options for the game from input to visuals to audio and gameplay and so on, FOV slider and aspect ratio correction - again stuff we don't see all too often.)

I think the game uses a very unique custom engine. It was one of the few console games that ran better on PS3 than on X360 (even if only by 2-3 frames per second). Doesn't sound like UE3, especially not an UE3 build from 2010 or earlier.

If you take a look at the trailer for "PC" version - there are few moments with close-ups where you can see that textures are very low-res, exactly for xbox360/ps3 (and they appear like that in PS3 version I played). This means that gameplay parts either weren't from PC version (what the point then) or port uses the same textures.

But hey, at last it finally goes to PC.

Textures are unlikely to change. The console versions however suffered from horrible framerate drops and aliasing. A version that fixes those problems is good enough for me.

^ You people have such low standards. Cool Face

Anyhow, I'm waiting patiently for both installments to hit PC.

Expecting high-standards from port from consoles is hopeless, especially when even some native PC games like basic advantages this platform allows (AA, etc).

And come to think, we live in 2013 already...

No. You have a single weapon that is upgraded during the course of the story and you can buy additional attacks and combos with XP you collect.

Yeah, there are different combos and they do alter your whip attacks a lot. Kinda like GoW, not just visual change but mechanics as well.Plus, there is magic.

LoS2? I know it's coming out on PC but was it ever listed on Steam? The SteamDB has the first one, but I don't recall ever seeing a Steam store/DB page go up for the sequel.

Removed from the search results, but still in Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/234080/

But this is Ultimate Edition, LoS1 + DLCs.

LoS2 never had a page IIRC.

No the "Ultimate Edition" of the original game will be released first (It's available on Steam for pre-ordering already I believe.) and then the sequel some time after. Smile

Unsure if the sequel will have a simultaneous release date across all platforms or if the PC version will arrive later.
