What's the chance that this will require Windows 8 ?.
If they are using cloud for running parts of the game, the Xbox one is designed for that and Microsoft are reasonably covered with the system being designed for that and non user accessible but on pc will they be requiring specific os or and software to protect access to their sbox cloud servers.

so its like 99% of mech anime, super agile players called pilots ( sup anime ) and super agile mechs, oh man, not that i mind it, source engine on other hand= bleh, yet to see anything impressive from it, cant think of any game that introduced anything complex or groundbreaking, all source engine games seem to be very simplistic, but time will tell

I think that selecting source is quite interesting. CoD:s are still based on IDtech# (quake 3) engine and its been taken quite far away from what it originally was (as has source but this time id guess even further since this is going to be an AAA+PRAA title.)

0 I'd say. Or somewhere close to that. If MS was the publisher, sure it would be probable.
Also "the cloud" mainly means "we are using dedicated servers.. you know.. that thing we removed from MW2 because uhm.. like.. nobody (loooooooooool) wanted? yeah.."

Well holy fucking shit.
That being Source looks fucking amazing. Remains to be seen how it looks in reality, but the video looks mighty impressive.
And it looks like lots of fun

I forgot totally that this was running on source engine when i watched the video -.- Looks awesome, feels retarded to see this kind of effects and texture quality just now because of "next gen consoles", like it should not have been already possible for years.

Well play Hawken if you want that Mechwarrior-esque feel. The pace is half the exciting and the seemingly smooth transitions in the gameplay gives a very unique gameplay combination.

hawken is what i meant , by saying that, its not mech, its not robots or anything of sorts, its same fps as any other, just dressed in " robot " , and hawken is god damn horrible
fuck games like lost planets with its "Suits " which arent robots are closer to any robot than those claiming its a mech game, especially when they named robots titans,
I never imagined small human like "suits " to be those titans, i expected them to be huge, and be part of the map/gameplay, jumping on titans and so on like in unreal 3 , but all there is some event that allows to jump on his back and shoot out his neck ( oh look another anime copy paste, that one is actually have "titans " in its name , no its not about robots )
gameplay looks great dont get me wrong, i am just against bullshit as that , " HEY LETS MAKE ROBOT GAME, WE ENLARGE THIS PLAYER SKELET, DRESS AS ROBOT, ALLOW 3 more actions, enter, drop, jump on back =profit "

Actually, there are tasks, that you can run in the cloud. Like RTS AI (will not happen on consoles, ofc). I for one think it is a good idea, especially, since they can deliver on the promise, because they have the necessarry infrastructure in place - unlike OnLive.
Plus, it is only a few tasks. Would be an engineering feat to achieve it though.

Feel free to believe Microsoft all you want, I guarantee their vision of the "Cloud" is overhyped and untenable. It will not increase processing performance of the machine.

Oh come on, I believe you hate microsoft, and I believe some of you even have reason to. But to be pissed, that you need always online for optimal performance ... pfft! I have not been offline with any of my systems for at least five years, phone included.

It is overhyped, just like everything in the consumer space these days. When it comes to hype, Microsoft could not even hold a candle to Apple, which is basically 95% hype.
As for what they promise to deliver ... I think MS have great engineers, I use many of their products and most of them are best in class. I would not underestimate them.

You are insane if you believe the "Cloud" is going to magically increase the "power" of the Yankbox "3-4x" like Microsoft claims. Did you also believe EA/Maxis when they said that SimCity relies on the "Cloud" to perform calculations that home PCs could not? I bet you did, I really do.
Quote: | ... pfft! I have not been offline with any of my systems for at least five years, phone included. |
Oh hi there Adam Orth, I didn't recognise you at first. As for the whole "I'm online so you all must be too, Heil!" - sorry, that's your opinion and it's one obviously not shared by the vast majority of real gamers around here. None us want "always online" and, not to put too fine a point on it, we don't give a flying fuck about the people that do. Always-online is a goddamned scourge and I sure as hell won't be supporting it at a SYSTEM level like what MS has done. Microsoft can fuck right off and so can their apologists <3
