Before i start i'd just like to say i'm new to these forums and hope i'm not breaking any rules by asking for help with this. I've read the FAQS and there doesn't seem to be any problem i just want to make sure first but please tell if i'm doing anything wrong.

I'm trying to get the Xvid rip of Final Fantasy 7 advent children working with the english subtitles. The video itself works fine but i have no idea what to do with the english subtitles, it appears to be a single file in the .SSA format which i have no idea what to do with. I can see the text if i open it in notepad but have no idea how to apply them to the video

Idealy i'd like to get the video with subs working with my dvd player because it will play divx and xvid and aprently supports many subtitle files but all the other subed video's i've had before have had the subtitles integrated right into the video itself so i'm not quite sure how to go about setting it up. I'd appreciate any help you could give me

oh and this is my dvd player if it helps http://www.rjtech.net/desc_RJ-1500DVXII.htm

Scripts are copyrighted although fansubs are legit providing no official release has been made in that country.

So the potential for illegality is why.

if the subs come in srt or sma or similar format...google for vobsubs and download that. make sure the avi and the subtitlesfile share the same name and are in the same directory.

fff7_video.avi
fff7_video.srt

now wmp should display the subs automatically. also there are tools to convert ssa to srt subs....if vobsubs can't display them...check vcdhelp.com or maybe digital-digest.com and doom9.org.

welcome to the forums Smile
