It is possible that they are lying, but since the demo was actual gameplay I'm inclined to believe them.
The list on page 9 states that they are streaming data when they can. They have a 570MB streaming pool for 1,6GB of streamable GPU data. The previous pages state that these 3GB are specific GPU data (or data that would go into the VRAM of a PC game).

They might just suck at coding (from the perspective of the now more limited resources of our beloved platform, of course). Razz

XBOX One PR document got leaked:

Looks to be authentic, noone would have the patience to fake that.

Some interesting points:

Quote:

Q: How much will standard retail games for Xbox One cost?

A: Microsoft Studios games on Xbox One will be $59.99 (MSRP).

Q: Will there be region restrictions for games on Xbox One?

A: Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale. We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One.

Q: Why did you make Kinect a requirement? Is the console $100 more expensive than the PS4 because of Kinect?

A: We do not break down pricing by components, but feel Xbox One is competitively priced to support our full lineup of blockbuster games that we showcased here at E3, as well as the amazing, new possibilities the Xbox One platform opens up in the living room.

Q: How does the new reputation system work? Do players take a more active role in policing or is this a behavior tracking algorithm?

A: We’ve updated the algorithms for monitoring behavior on the system, expanded scoring elements, engaged our enforcement team and created requirements for games to take reputation into account. The reputation system is built on a model that accounts for how a player behaves and whether they positively or negatively affect others. As long as other players or the titles are not reporting a player, you will maintain a positive reputation.

Q: What is “reputation” and what does it mean for gamers?

A: Your Xbox Live reputation plays a valuable role rewarding healthy participation while reducing troublemakers and cheaters. A unified system across Xbox Live and all of your games allow you to have much more control over who you play with. The better your reputation, the more people will want to play with you.

Q: How can you fix your reputation if you’re flagged with a negative reputation?

A: The easiest way to avoid a negative reputation score is be a positive and healthy member of Xbox Live. Xbox Live members will receive infraction warnings if their reputation is flagged as unsportsmanlike or derogatory. These members may be able to reverse their negative reputation by following the Xbox Live guidelines.

Q: What is the new Xbox 360 you unveiled at E3 (Stingray)?

A: Today, we unveiled the redesigned Xbox 360. It offers an amazing new design and form factor that brings Xbox 360 in line with the look and feel of the Xbox One family. We see this as another indication in our investment and long-term vision for Xbox 360 and its millions of owners worldwide.

I played 1 PS4 game on a PC. It wasn't at Sony's booth though and we were told it was the PC version running with PS4 controllers.

I also think there was a Killzone tech video that had fraps running lol, meaning it was running on PC.

And good, now you better release gamepad drivers for Windows this time Sony!

These are the worst kinds of teases. The games are running on PC, yet they'll be finalised for consoles and we won't see them Crying or Very sad Say what you want about KillZone, it's a very good console shooter (series) - just like Black, just like Condemned 2, just like The Darkness.

They should be. It's not like console exclusives looked suspiciously better at E3 compared to the final product before.

The comedy never stops

I think this relates to the remark CBOAT made on Gaf that the DRM system is even worse than whats on the surface.

Playing this console online is like walking naked thru a minefield what with the fear of getting banned and loosing your games + the reputation system + the retarded kids that can swarm you with complaints and shit.

Edit :

FFS, Microsoft is either suicidal, or has the biggest balls in the industry.

Worst part is it will probably sell well, as people are accustomed to being screwed by corporations.

In before "it's just like Steam, what's the problem?"

It's absolutely nothing like Steam.

There are actually quite a few different ways to get banned on Steam, and only one locks you out of your games.

An account suspension locks you out of everything. This only happens if you file a chargeback or try to hack the network or something.

A "Support Lock" (violation of ToS, suspicious account activity, etc.) prevents you from purchasing, trading, or gifting until you resolve it with Steam Support.

A Community Ban is the result of being a moron on Steam Community. This prevents you from posting comments, updating your profile, and other Community stuff. You can still chat with friends.

A Trade Ban is the result of scamming people via trading. It prevents you from trading items and games.

A VAC Ban is the result of using external cheats to gain an unfair advantage. It prevents you from playing in VAC-secured servers in the game you were banned in. You can still play in insecure servers and singleplayer.

Meanwhile, Microsoft doesn't have separate ban types. If they decide to punish you for whatever reason, including social interaction through their system that they don't approve of, your account gets banned. That's it. You're done. All the games you've bought and the console you spent so much money on are useless paperweights now, which you can't play, sell, or even give to a friend for free.

Why the fuck is this such a big deal Neutral

It's been like that forever. Most game demos at conventions run on a PC. And yeah, you debug straight onto the console with UE3, but that's hardly a convenient or reliable way to do it at such an event. If it runs on CryEngine, UE3(.5), Frostbite, Source, Unity you can be pretty sure that it was shown running on a PC. The only exceptions will be the true console exclusives that run on proprietary engines that have never been used on a PC.

If MS were honest and said "This is the deal," then people wouldn't feel cheated. But, since they weren't open about it, it's maybe another example of MS being underhand (even if everyone else does it, the anti-MS feeling is pretty bad now).

Because who needs GEFORCE GTX PC when we have XBOX One next gen console with super cool hardware? Im sure MS is not proud of those pictures.

It isn't (IMMOOOO) as long as what people are shown is still an exact representation of the final product

it doesn't have to be exact representation and it almost never is. how many E3 game demos do you remember that didn't change come final product? not that many. things change during development, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.
when you buy ( Laughing ) a game you buy final product, not what you saw months or years ago at E3

It's funny, but not strange because under DX they work (almost) exactly the same.
