The two games are also atmospherically completely different... Basically two entirely different games, really.

"Lamb of God, Praise the mighty Lamb, the innocent Lamb"
Bioshock 2 better than Bioshock 1, give me a fucking break
Don't get me wrong, I liked it since it tweaked the already great gameplay of the original, too bad it was slightly/moderately worse in every other department.
No crafting (sadly also absent in infinite )
Characters/voice acting?
Level design was good on most maps, still toppled by the first IMO.
Story wise... eh, the less Lamb of god I'll hear ever again the better
Sound-wise it was pretty much the same thing.
EDIT: typos and overall ness

imo Bio1>BioInf>Minerva>Bio2
(still waiting for fixed xliveemu from rin guy to properly play Minerva's Den - there is only some method with hexediting saves)

what can I say lads, bio 1 was a dissapointment to me. non involving, non varied gameplay, with the completly obvious ss 2 rip-off mid game plot twist.
it left the same impression on me as bio inf: enjoyable, but overall dissapointingly conservative and tame for a shock game.
bio 2 improved the combat immensly, and brought some challenge. I liked level design better as well. those diving suit parts were fantastic and there were a lot more larger areas with branching paths. and just being a big daddy and everything that brought was to me above anything in bio 1. story involvment as a big daddy worked better for me.

Sorry if my post sounded harsh.
Might have liked the original better since I have never played SS2, I guess.
The "Lamb of God" crap however really does bring the game down immensely for me, even being a fan of the gameplay and judging most games mostly on that aspect.

Nah, didn't sound harsh, don't worry, I never get offended by differing opinions, so you can always be blunt with me
But wtf, you finished ss 1, but never played ss 2? GET ON THAT ASAP
Its undisputedly the best game of all time for me. And yes, its definitely probable that not playing ss 2 would not make one dissapointed with bio 1's plot twist.
As for bio 2, I must have forgotten the lamb of god thing, its been ages since i played bio 2. (one of my steam preorders from before i got burned by bad preorders) If its anything like the annoying religious voxphones and other religious babble in bio inf, then I must have disliked it as well
need to refresh my memory on that part.

The two things that put me off completely when it comes to Bioshock 2 are the amateurish storytelling and lack of atmosphere. The combat itself is considerably better than Bioshock 1 (more variety and challenge) and even the levels are quite well-made..but everything feels "generic" to me, with no soul. I've never finished the game :<

i finished a while back minervas den with rin method and its completly playable, you only have to replace a line in the save file everytime you start the game, so you dont need to wait for the xlive emu. i dont remember bioshock 2 too well but minervas den was ok as a standalone story.
I can see your soul at the edges of your eyes..

http://www.actiontrip.com/news/levine-penning-script-for-hollywood-movie/061913_6
Quote: |
Ken Levine, well-known game designer and creator of BioShock, is to pen the script for the remake of the sci-fi film Logan's Run (1976). Reportedly, Levine will remain creative director at Irrational Games (the studio responsible for BioShock Infinite).
I've actually seen this movie twice. It was a great sci-fi tale for its time. Also, I have nothing against Ken Levine moving on to script-writing, but I must admit that there seems to be a lot of this going on in the industry lately. Hollywood writers working on video games and the other way around. A game designer is supposed to be a game designer. So it was decreed...

Quote: | According to the CV of a former 2K Marin staffer, the new AI companion for the forthcoming first piece of downloadable content for BioShock Infinite is named "Minibuddy." A producer who recently left Irrational Games for Bungie describes the expansion as "a unique first-person shooter experience set within the BioShock universe." Elizabeth Comstock—the companion from the main game—may very well not be returning: Courtnee Draper, the voice actress of the character, admitted last month that she had no idea what was going on with the game's DLC.
BioShock mastermind Ken Levine said that Irrational didn't begin working on DLC for BioShock Infinite until after they wrapped development on the main game, and his comments indicate the first piece of DLC is still likely months away at the earliest. I would personally speculate that this DLC—and other Infinite DLC—might be comparable to the BioShock 2 expansion Minerva's Den, which featured a self-contained story with new characters that was divorced from the main game. |
Also check the link for the Warren Spector designed HL2 expansion we almost got.

I also finished The Last of Us the other day and It's hard to live up to that with story telling. fun fact: Same voice actor aswell for main character. |
that's one of those games that makes me wish i had a console |
I have a perfectly working strategy for that.

The DLC "Columbia's Finest" has been released, unfortunately it seems it's nothing more than the pre-order bonuses bundled up in a single pack.
