I got it working, burned @ my old p2 400mhz @ 4speed on a normal (philips) cd-r. After the installed i runned the benchmark (wanted to see te results of my leet 7800gtx). The disk check was oke and it showed the benchmark (180fps @ 1280*1024, 6*aa 16*af Cool Laughing. After the bench i clicked >>play and it worked fine. But it seems like the trick only works one, after a reboot it worked again Cool .

Tested:

DVD Writer LG GSA-4163B

DVD Reader LG GDR-8163B (mir-tms.htm saids that this DVD reader failed with cd-r memorex but i have used sky ultra cdr...the more cheap cd's)

Also i tested it with an old hp, old benq and old aopen cd-r/cd-rw writes and it works fine with the same DVD reader. Besides i burned the iso file at 52x and it works fine.

The cd's that i tested are (with the same DVD reader):

cd-r: sky builder---> works fine
cd-rw: sony builder--->doesnt work
cd-rw: tdk builder---->doesnt work

Hi guys,
Well I need some information about this game... Does it original copy work on cd/dvd burner? (if not what stupid protection 'cause for example I have only a burner on both of my PCs...) Another question is where I can find some kinda of updated list of all CDs that works with this new release? And the last one is how much time does it takes on you PC to check that stupid protecions? On mine (with a burner) it looks like it need to check entire disk and takes more then a 2 mins...
Thnx

Burned with Plextor PX-716A and Lite-On 52x, tried Platinum 52x & SilverCircle 48x.
Reader tried Plextor PX-130A and LG GDR8163B.
The problem is when it comes for the cd-check, it just keeps checking the disc :S And that with both dvdroms. Somehow I have the feeling that it is something else in my PC. Gonna try a format Mad

good to see people in here actually try it...

u go to i**news and people are just bashing these clones, and saying how lame it is that they cant get it to work. its pathetic really that i thought people over there may actually have grown up a bit or gained some slight intelligence.

So basically the atip check is holding back burners from playing the game. Anyone know where that info is stored on the cdr media? Maybe if you block out the info with a marker or whiteout the disc will work. No atip data found = normal retail disc... makes sense to me.

Got progress Very Happy

If your cd check is failing, try to end the process StarWind.exe in your Task Manager. Also deactive it in Services @ msconfig. 9 out of 10 times the game works now Very Happy

can anyone confirm this?? I lended my cd to my friend so I can't try it but I doubt it would work, it would be a pretty bad protection for something like starforce.

It didn't work here on a TDK CDR (MBI) but it works on a CDRW (Octron). The german Codename Panzers clone from last year worked also on this disc type.
