''Wolfram Funck You @wol_lay_bol_lay 4 Juil
Thanks all, we've reached our targeted number of alpha testers and will be shutting down the store until we go to beta in about 6 months''
Is that true? If so, sucks for those who wasnt able to get it because the store was down!

Finally got it. The account system at the time of writing, and the shop, are back up. Quick. Throw your money at it before it breaks again!

I'm not sure if it's possible to get really good weps from the shops. At most green ones.
Though, from itemshop you can get legendary lamp for example.
In cube wiki there are a list of seeds which will spawn certain items to the nearby city. One for a legendary lantern.
But once you find +1-+4 elite mobs you can beat (cyan colored for easy pickings) farm those for few hours and you'll have full legendary set.
Anyone running a server? I could join with my ranger later today (using Sniper build so no crashing problems) (My ranger is some 7x level)

seed 13375 has a legendary iron lamp at the first city's general goods trader
also you can't post on their forums since the initial alpha release
and as far the frequency of updates goes, nobody knows, we only got one small hotfix so far.

First of all, a big thank you to all Cube World fans. It's so great to see all the Cube World videos and screenshots from other players all around the web!
We will improve our shop interface soon - in the meantime Cube World is available for purchase here: picroma.com/buycubeworld
I just wanted to give you a brief overview of what we'll be doing next:
Fixing bugs: We have already gathered a big list of bugs and glitches reported by players.
Compatibility: Some players have DirectX initialization problems on their PCs. We will try to find out the reasons and solve these issues.
Performance: We will work on performance optimizations, both for client and server.
Remappable controls: We will make all controls configurable.
Scalable GUI: We will make the GUI scalable, so it works well with lower resolutions, too.
Multiplayer server configuration: We will add more server configurations options, such as a configurable port.
New content: We already have a few things in the making, such as new creatures
.
Changes to the website: We'll restructure the site a little and add a new forum and probably a bugtracking system (if anyone can recommend a good bugtracker, please let me know).

thanks god the starbound developers do their shit right because i sure as hell already know where this is going
fixing more bugs and trying to satisfy the users that want to play right now instead of actually DEVELOPING the game.
in 2 years we might have enough content to call it a worthwhile game, if at all, especially if they continue developing with just 2 people.
the whole minecraft development style really shat in the heads of indie developers - now this is happening everywhere - buy our unfinished games so we can concentrate on fixing bugs and satisfying customers that complain about an alpha/beta game instead of actually developing the game and moving forward!

- Added an option to limit the frame rate (see options menu: FPS limit; default 111 fps)
- Ranger ability 'Scout's switftness' doesn't crash on multiplayer servers anymore
- Ranger ability 'Retreat' doesn't increase hang gliding speed anymore
- The crossbow's right mouse button ability now only does damage when charged
- You can now reset the day in inns only between 6:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.
- Fixed a bug where multiplayer groups received too much XP for missions

Quests & Cube World
Quote: | Quests are an important part of an RPG. Quests guide the player to various places, tell stories and give a reason to do all the monster and item hunting. So we decided to add quests to Cube World as well.
There were some challenges due to Cube World's procedural generation: The world is generated on-the-fly in a small region around the player while he's exploring it, but we wanted to be able to define quests more globally. E.g. there should be quests that send you from one end of a land to the other. So I developed a system which allows me to create quests in areas that haven't been generated yet. Complicated, isn't it? Also NPCs, monsters and items need to be generated before the actual landscape, so they can be logically linked to quests.
We first started with an MMO-style quest system with quest-givers and many icons on the map, indicating quest locations, NPCs and so on. While it turned out to be a refreshing way to play Cube World, after a while we realized that it wasn't in line with the original Cube World feel: You felt forced to visit all those quest locations and to find quest-givers - there wasn't much reason to explore the world on your own.
So we made the system more exploration-based: we removed quest-givers and also removed all markers from the world map. Quests are just there and players can find them by exploring. E.g. you might find an old crypt and when you enter it, there is a skeleton boss that you have to defeat. Maybe the boss will drop a key or a treasure which is needed for another quest.
We added a quest journal with quest objectives and previews of creatures and items. The journal is updated automatically by fighting, finding items or talking to NPCs. Some NPCs give hints about quests that haven't been discovered yet.
By removing all quest markers from the map, players are forced to study the world around them more actively rather than following an icon on the map. It makes finding the quest target part of the quest itself and leads to a much more immersive gameplay.
Being an RPG, we want to make the quest system deep and inscrutable, so we're currently adding more quest variations, items and locations. |

He fucked nobody with nothing, why is it that people can not understand what he initially said on this development? That he would get to it when it was possible to get updates done wasn't it? I don't recall many if any promises about release times or anything else.
The only hope lost would be from people expecting constant tweets about it, which is fair enough maybe regarding buying something in the making but he still said it was just a shell at the time and was available to buy like any other game these days with such access
There are other games spoken about on this forum where people could really say they are being butt fucked and money raped, but gets draped in drool and fanboi's

There was no quests coming soon before the site and stuff was changed no? and that was recent not over a year ago
Im sure quests when I bought this game on its first availability was never mentioned anywhere. but still he said it will happen when it happens due to time constraints. Its a side project compared to the 3d tool stuff I think.

http://kotaku.com/despite-23-months-without-updates-cube-world-devs-say-1717034639
Quote: | The Picroma development team for Cube World is incredibly small: Wolfram von Funck and his wife, Sarah von Funck.
There have been no updates on Cube World’s website or Facebook account. Neither developer has said anything on social media in months. Wolfram? June 2014. Sarah? December 2013. The last tweet from Wolfram was heavily retweeted and favorited, showing enthusiasm for the game.
Then, nothing. When a reader pointed this out to me, it caught my eye. So when I decided to email Wolfram and Sarah, I didn’t expect a reply. To my surprise, though, one came quickly.
“We’re still working on the quests,” said Wolfram. “It’s quite difficult and a lot of work to make randomly generated quests that are fun and non-repetitive. Since the last published video, I redesigned the quest system several times but didn’t want to tease fans with new features before I’m 100% happy with them. Maybe I’m a bit perfectionist here, but I just don’t want to develop Cube World in the wrong direction.”
It’s common for development to take longer than expected, but would it be too much to let people know “hey, we’re still here”? Wolfram claimed he didn’t want to mislead anyone.
“When I’m working on something complicated I prefer to focus fully on development until I’m done and can show the results,” he said. “Unfortunately it’s taking longer this time. I’m not posting ‘hey, we’re still here’ because that’s beyond all question - Cube World is my passion project and I will work on it until it’s finished.”
Wolfram didn’t have a timeline for the quests update, but said they’d be “a big step towards the full game,” and there’d be more to share soon.
“Currently I’m quite happy how it’s coming along and I hope to post more updates about the quests and other new features as soon as possible,” he said.
Our collective interpretation of “time” and “soon” may be different than Wolfram’s, however.
As for why Cube World can’t be purchased right now, Wolfram pointed towards a change in EU tax law that makes it makes it very complicated to sell games online if it’s not through Steam.
“The new law makes selling games on your own far more complicated (especially for a two-person team like us) and requires me to re-implement the shop on our website,” he said. “Since I’m doing also the web programming all on my own, I decided to focus on developing the game before taking care of the shop, so the fans get their update as soon as possible.”
There are no plans to release Cube World through Steam until the game is out of beta, but fans should be able to purchase the game again when the quests update goes live. |
