wow is still the best mmorpg there is and ever was ( honorary mention to ultima online at this place )
and i haven't even played it since wotlk, but i have played a lot other mmorpgs ever since, and they honestly never did it right
guild wars 2 came close, gave a good impression at the beginning, but couldn't motivate a lot of people to continue playing after they hit max level - something was simply missing
and thats pretty much it, warhammer online wasnt all too terrible either, then you had ofcourse a lot of failures, like rift, swtor, the hero games (dc universe, city of heroes, marvel heroes etc)
so im really just still waiting for the next good mmo, and it seems like it still could take forever
im hoping for a good one because mmorpgs are actually kind of cool
i remember the early days of wow, it all so mysterious, you didn't know how deep the content would go, everything had such brilliant detail and it simply fit together and kept you playing
and its been how long since the release ? 8 years ? its a little sad actually that nothing on-par was ever released by someone. |
completly agree with you. its just that i cant see it anymore... i played it and played it and... played it. i feel like i can see the matrix of the game already

could be a "ptr-only" item tho.
But i was just thinking, imagine wow going f2p. The servers would go fucking apeshit overloaded haha.

Odd thing about that tho, is that only the buff itself has that tag, the elixir itself doesn't..

It might be just that they are bringing the web store ingame, with a few extra's..
People tend to forget that Blizzard already has a store where you can buy ingame stuff for $/€/£/¥

Yea. Right now it's quite a hassle to buy pet/mount from Blizzard Store.
You have to buy it first, then navigate to other section of your account to input the serial number and select correct account.
It's probably they are going to make Blizzard Store accessible straight from the game with few extra perks/items ^^
It kinda worries me a little, they would probably start slow with some potions for EXP buffs and slowly add more items to make it pay2win ><
Quote: | We are currently exploring the possibility of adding a way for players in certain regions to make purchases directly within the game. As part of this process, elements related to this will be appearing on the PTR. We’ll provide additional updates on our plans as development progresses. |

Hehe, looks like Blizzard want to cash in more $$$. Subscription AND in-game item store. Not bad!
I DO NOT think at all that this info means F2P. If it's real and it materializes in what we expect (game store), than this would be another "brilliant" Blizz idea to fill even more hangars with tons of gold ingots.

Little update
Quote: | Thanks for all the feedback so far, everyone. We’re still pretty early in the exploration process, but we did want to go into more detail about our rationale for introducing an in-game store, as well as provide some insight into what you might ultimately see available there.
For players who are already interested in the in-game items we offer, such as Pet Store pets and mounts, the benefits of an in-game store are pretty clear. We think everyone would appreciate the convenience of being able to make such purchases without having to leave the game, and ultimately that’s our long-term goal for the system, though there’s quite a bit of work involved in retrofitting those existing items into the new system.
First, we’ll be testing the in-game store with some new kinds of items we’re looking into introducing (in Asian regions, at the outset) based on player feedback: specifically, an experience buff to assist with the leveling process, as well as an alternate way to acquire Lesser Charms of Good Fortune. We’ve had a lot of requests from players in different regions for convenience-oriented items such as these, and as with other new ideas we’ve introduced as WoW has evolved—including Pet Store pets, mounts, and more—your feedback plays a hugely important part in determining what we add to the game.
Ultimately it’s still too early in the process to make any final determinations about our plans, but in the meantime, we hope you’ll check out the in-game store once it’s implemented on the PTR and let us know what you think. |
Ok. For people who don't know lesser charms of good fortune are required for Elder Charms/Mogu Rune of Fate that lets you use it for extra roll to get an item once a boss is dead including thunderforged :\.
I guess it won't be long before they will be selling gear unfortunately

I highly doubt they make WOW f2p anytime in the near future. Why would they, if they have a steady monthly income.
MAYBE after their next MMO ran for some time.

Blizzard confirms in-game World of Warcraft store
Quote: | Community manager Bashiok said in the game's forums that Blizzard is "still pretty early in the exploration process" and that first tests will take place in Asian regions before spreading to other countries.
"For players who are already interested in the in-game items we offer, such as Pet Store pets and mounts, the benefits of an in-game store are pretty clear," he said. "We think everyone would appreciate the convenience of being able to make such purchases without having to leave the game, and ultimately that's our long-term goal for the system, though there's quite a bit of work involved in retrofitting those existing items into the new system." |

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

I'm done with the game when my guild kills Lei Shen. Going to take really long break from this.

As much as i hate this game, i must say that thanks to its art style it still looks pretty good and atmospheric.

AFAIK, you can just download the english version from the Wow website. The box is needed just to activate an expansions/basegame,
