Back then when the game was released I managed to buy it for almost half of the price. Never regret it, game is definitely worth it. That 1 cent shit really hurt devs hard, considering that online stocks usually has thousands copies. Well fuck. I kinda want Metro 2. For those who don't know - 4A Studies has a lot of people from original STALKER team and I believe many of them still want to give life to original amazing STALKER concept and vision. Metro was more or less successful so far so I was hoping they could build solid enough ground to start some sandboxy FPS (perhaps even with RPG elements) a-la STALKER of 2003 (open-world Metro, exploring abandoned metro tunnels, roaming in Moscow, fighting for new land?).

They said they have no interest in returning to Stalker/-ish concept.

Quote:
AP: We are often asked "When will you turn Metro back to STALKER?" No problems.

SA: Yeah, we can do it right now, no problems with that.

AP: No problems with the engine. There is with the setting. We don't want to lower the quality bar we set with the first game, but creating a fully explorable Moscow... it will take a lot of time. We really don't want to work on a game for 6 years.

Kla: I would've been hard to explain with the story as well.

AP: It's not like an open world always asks for an explanation, really. It's just that, entering another six-year development cycle... Everything in this world is evolving very fast now. With STALKER it was: 2004 - we have the best visuals, we're awesome. "We're going to release the game in half a year anyway!" When it was finally released in March 2007 it wasn't looking that great, really.

If they start working on open world Metro right now and release it after 6 years it will look decent because of the consoles.

Game just downloaded a 336 MB update (weird time of day/night for an update btw).

Apparently it's the content for the first story DLC to be released today. I haven't even bought the Season Pass yet (I plan to) cause I have yet to play the campaign (quit it after 2 missions because of the broken Ranger mode).

Well it's much more open than Metro and it has more going on. I only played Metro 2033 though. I assume something like Stalker requires more work and you can't control the player as much as you can in a linear game.

I don't know about Morrowind (I will play it in the future) but please don't go comparing the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series with the likes of Oblivion and Skyrim Reaction

Nice! I didn't realise there was SP DLC

All the Metro: Last Light DLC will be SP DLC, so that's good news for us Very Happy

@JBeckman Nice screenshots. Do tell us how the DLC plays out as in if there is any difference in the gameplay style and atmosphere between the three factions.

Kinda odd they're releasing it during the summer sale. Let's hope Bethesda releases Dishonored DLC as well.

I haven't tried all of them but so far it looks like each of the chapters or missions have their own style, for the Reich you play as a slow heavily armored and armed support guy whereas you play as a silent sniper in the Reds mission and the Polis Ranger chapter which I've progressed most with is kinda like a small sandbox environment where you scavenge for rare items so you can afford better equipment and supply items.

Also unsure if the new weapons are available in the main story mode but it wouldn't surprise me, need to check the usual D6 level and see what the armory contains. Very Happy
(The new ammo types which you can see partially in the above images seems like a neat addition as well.)

Oh and the overly blue tint is due to me using the r_lsrgb=1 switch in the config file, just experimenting with the various commands available for the game. Smile
(I like the results and it's pretty stylish too though the main menu looks a bit dark with it enabled.)

The new weapons are not available in the main campaign, at least in the beginning. Also, in the sniper mission, after i enter the Nazi base it returns me to the main menu.

Because thats the end. The whole mission is how you get into the main station but it ends there.

They are available in the main game too! Just started a new game and the Abzac (or whatever its name) is there

Abzats is not part of this DLC. It was there before, as a Seasons Pass bonus. The new weapons are the VSSK Vychlop sniper rifle ( http://world.guns.ru/sniper/large-caliber-sniper-rifles/rus/vks-vssk-vychlop-e.html ), the Volt Driver and a dual barrel grenade launcher. You can use the sniper rifle in the very short sniper mission, and the other two in the even shorter Nazi mission. In the Kshatryia mission they are not available for buying, at least at the mission start.

When I started a new game I suprised by this Abzac weapon...I immediatly googled the faction pack and the description mentioned this weapon. Guess it was false then.

Oh well, i loaded different checkpoints with gun sellers : Venice, Church, D16 end mission - the new guns are not there. Quite disappointed, i really wanted the Volt Driver in the main story.

These are just three separate missions, not exactly a story DLC. Smile
(Seems that will come later but I forgot the release order and the names of the "Season Pass" DLC content pack.)

Thanks for the info JB; now this is what DLC should be about, not just skins/armour/mp map packs.
