For a tourist London really isn't that bad Razz

Even for a regular visitor like me it's still a nice place to go to. The commute in and out (or even around it - drove to Birmingham once from Dover, never again, not via that route anyway) is horrible, so I get where some of you are coming from. But as a city, it is so much better than Brussels, Paris or (I'm ready for the hate, bring it on) Amsterdam. Definitely not the best city I've been to, but as a visitor it's plenty fun. Especially if it's your first time. I do expect pics Neon, if you want you can keep them in the private scat section Cool Face

It sure as hell is crazy though Laughing

Oh and I never called Nando's expensive; compared to the tiny places it is a lot more expensive though Wink

I think my issue with London is that its not actually very British, more specifically English, at least not the England I know. I've seen the sights, walked around and just found it irritating. The science museum and natural history museum are good places to spend some time and you can find some fantastic food, but it just doesn't beat a walk in the country followed by a local ale in the village pub Wink!

Scrap london, rebook your flight closer to the lake districts and go there...

better scenery, can go on horse trails ( hired horses ) and get to see some great areas. hire a car and try out hard knott pass (not for the weak hearted).

visit the lakes, take the ferry to the small island of far sawry and admire all the 500 year old cottages still in use.

get some kendle mint cake and go see beatrix potters house Very Happy

its a better area than that insane place called london lol.

Funny yuo should say that, I'm going for summer Smile

Woot, where?! Very Happy

Have a great holiday Neon! Smile I'd really love to visit London in the near future, it's in my "plans" (but only for a short period of time Razz). My cousin should go there next year and perhaps I could make her company for a while, assuming that I won't be broke anymore by then xD

Ah, not bad. Have fun! I presume it's a very relaxing place in the middle of the nature, away from everything grinhurt.

That area is actually a strategic place if you're planning to visit all the most famous historical cities/towns in Tuscany. The coast isn't bad either, just avoid the most crowded areas near the residential zones and you'll be fine. Razz

Again, exactly Razz

Fuck residential zones, I'll be driving around most of those 2 weeks. Florence I must visit, need to find some Da Vinci's chi...err inventions Cool Face

I hear Pisa is boring as hell, but I still wanna see that damn thing. A client recommended Orvieto, so that's on the list and I'm sure I'll figure a million more things out while I'm there Razz

Firenze is a must, if you enjoy sightseeing you'll have a great time there. As for Pisa, the only interesting thing there is the tower, and even that is only interesting once. But again, Firenze is essential if you're in the area. You can spend a few good days and not see half of it. Smile

Just make sure you take some oven-friendly clothing when you go out, or you'll be deep fried fast. Very Happy

What Zmed said Very Happy . I'm not too familiar with that area but Florence is the best of the best if you're looking for historical awesomesauce and art. I've heard Lucca is pretty cool as well, especially the medieval part. It's gonna be a very hot week though, around 38-39°C .

About Orvieto, it is a great city to visit, pretty unique since it's basically built on a rock, but it's quite far from the place where you're staying. I think it will take you ~4 hours to reach it, assuming that you don't find too much traffic. You should definitely visit some of the little gems like Volterra and San Gimignano though, as well as Siena (where there's my university Razz)

I came back a few days ago, I had a FANTASTIC time there. Lovely people, fantastic atmosphere, tube is so easy to use.... Now I don't wonder a lot of Polish people just stay there and do dishes for the rest of their lives, seriously.

Going to London next Sunday as well. Will stay for the weekdays and come home Saturday. Will try our best to go to Stonehenge as well, but it will be a primarily London vacation.

And late to the party but: yep Neon. Brits either love or hate the city, but as a tourist or temporary resident it is one of the best places to go. And I wish our public transport was anywhere near as good as the tube.

Time Magazine has a great piece on London:

http://www.time.com/time/travel/cityguide/article/0,31489,1846986,00.html

Also download the London24 app, it shows you everything going on after midnight:

http://24hourlondon.co.uk/

I've been to a lot of great cities and lived in two of the three global cities but London is by FAR the best of the three, it has this incredible energy thing going on like you're at the centre of the human universe.

Well, trying to try out SCBL, but it's crashing like every 10 minutes. Can't even get past the first real mission (after the herpaderpa Michael Bay-zomg-exploshuns intro mission). Looks more promising than Conviction could ever hope to be, but it's the usual Ubi port job. It's shit. Very Happy

Maybe SR4...
