Ah so that's what was changed, unsure what those minor fixes are but I saw a number of reports about the game not being fully compatible with Windows 8 so it makes sense that they fixed that. Smile

L.A. Noire Update v1.3.2617 (c) Rockstar Games

11/2012 :..... RELEASE.DATE .. PROTECTION .......: GameShield
- :.......... DISC(S) .. GAME.TYPE ........: Action

Note: Most signficantly, this update adds Windows 8 support. By the way, be
sure to allow the gsrld.dll file of the crack in Windows Defender

"Players have survived the terrors that took place on Banoi, but did they
really get all the pieces of the puzzle? Dead Island's Ryder White DLC

Me neither, it's a good game but I'm always restarting and trying to do perfectly, it's not really possible by playing normally so that means a lot of restarts though some are intentional as Cole can get pretty weird when using certain dialogue options and I like those too. Very Happy
(I've done a lot of the street problems though, albeit it nearly always comes down to shooting someone after a chase sequence or similar, maybe it's different later on in the game.)

You can just quit to the main menu if I recall correctly, no need to restart or anything...

Yes that's what I did, I probably made it sound like I restarted the entire game with the way I worded that. Smile

It does however still mean you will replay a lot of that current investigation to get back to where you were since checkpoints are used very sparsely from what I remember. Smile
(All dialogue and cutscenes again, various gameplay segements and such, shame you can't just save anywhere.)

I finished it, got most the max awards possible but not all, gameplay isn't that interesting to constantly repeat the same mission, story is interesting though, but I suggest playing only one mission a day or so, as they are very repetative. Heck, it's at least a game I've finished Very Happy

It took me several months but I finally finished it last week, and it was really great. But like you said, it can get repetitive so the best approach is to play one case/episode a day, like a TV series.

I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, but other than that it was a great 'experience' (more than just a game) thanks to the fantastic atmosphere, dialogues and characters. Easily a 8/10 game in my opinion...so JB, finish it! Very Happy

I picked this up over the holiday sale and I love it so far. Working my first case as a detective now.

Question for you guys though: how many hours can I expect to get out of this if I take my time? My biggest fear with games that I enjoy is that I know it will end and I think it makes me stop/slow down playing because I don't want it to ever end and then I never finish them or get back to them much later hehe. I know, I know, first world problems.

Yeah it's definitely not a short game, especially if you play the DLCs cases. I did several side-missions too and ended up playing it for around 30 hours. Razz

It took me a lot less in my case to beat the game including its DLC episodes. Around 15 hours or so, I think...

I've played the game with the DLC's, but in retrospect, I would rather play it without the DLC. the first two fit seemlessly, but the last DLC mission is put in before the last mission and completely breaks the pacing and flow. Its like putting an x-files episode in before the last scene of a Noir movie.... dunno what they were thinking. other then that, the game is a blast. acting/voiceacting is among the best in video games ever. atmosphere and setting are incredibly rich and detailed. Cases are interesting.

Would love to see a sequel, or a similar gameplay approach in different games. I think a Blade Runner game with similar investigations would be epic. Imagine doing the Voight-Kampff test against such detailed faces So Much Win

around 65 hours here, 100% completion, all answers correct, all collectibles, missions and never skipped anything.
maybe I'm very slow but if you clocked in under 30 hours I'd say you missed some larger portions of the game

You probably did but in the end all those extra missions were crazy generic and repetitive. I think I ended around 32 hours or something and I wasted a lot of time sometimes just driving around finding those special cars to drive around in Very Happy

I phrased it wrong, only went for the landmarks, did not collect all (but most) of the movie reels and cars, thats truly tedious.
I spent most of the time on the regular investigations and still got over 60 hours out of it.
Just counted, the game has 26 cases, thats massive.
