Welcome to the club of the nice Sony tool that breaks your HDD instead of fixing it.
They really need a proper fsck and stop artificially blocking it from booting !!!

Jesus Sabin, talk about some bad luck :/
It is one of the things they need to change with the PS4 though. I mean the fact that you *can* replace the harddrive just like that is awesome, but it has some "flaws" nonetheless. The above should never have happened, use partitions damn you

yep its an incredibly shitty thing to happen, i also lost all my stuff a while ago because of the same thing. what i do now is backup all saves on my usb stick every time i get an error message after reboot, then rebuild index and restore filesystem from recovery menu.

bad luck my ass. it's PEBKAC. he did this to himself, not rogero.
all he had to do is cancel out of that screen and nothing would have happened. i had that screen countless times where it tells you format is needed, just cancel out and everything works perfect.

Yeah, I remember this happened to you several times. I saw the message, thought "Oh fuck no, not me too" pressed O to cancel, it rebooted and asked again, wouldn't boot unless I accepted. If I pressed O to cancel the format demand, the system wouldn't boot and instead showed;
"Cannot start. The appropriate system storage was not found"
No way of cancelling, no way of saving myself. Fucking Sony.
Kaan_ wrote: | Weird, I have always used rogero's cfws including the latest one and none of this ever happened. Bad luck. |
As for whether it was Rogero or not, let's just put it this way; I've been running Rebug FWs ever since they were released and never had a single software issue, not ever. All my games worked as they should, all my recent titles unlocked with ReACT worked as they should, it was only after installing Rogero and updating ReACT from 2.20 to 2.26 when everything went to shit.
I don't believe in coincidences.

It was "restore filesystem" which errored out and told me it needed formatting

thats why i do it right after backing up my saves, if it fucks up i dont lose any progress.
only thing we can do is hope that the next-gen consoles are going to be much more stable.

I'm still on 4.21 and I can run every game. Multiman automatically patches the EBOOT header for 4.21+ game to load.
I guess I'm too lazy to update

I'm on 4.30.2 rebug, I can't seem to update to 4.41.2 for some reason. I know it doesn't matter much, but it's a matter of principle now. When I try through XMB, I get "data is corrupted" (md5 of the file is fine). When I try recovery mode, I get "no file applicable found". I tried every possible combination in Rebug Toolbox, no luck. Why can't I update? Installing 4.30.2 via recovery mode worked without any problems (I was on 4.21).

I tried going from 4.21 and 4.30 to 4.41, doesn't work. Strange that it won't even work through recovery mode. Doesn't matter much though.

So I'm going to update my multiman install tonight so that it'll run on my 4.46Rogero PS3 and I was wondering what all of those tools are for? Like BDreset7, LastGame7, GameData7 and stDISC5?
I'm pretty sure that the BDreset is to reset the BD emulated drive, lastgame is to automatically mount/load the last game and gamedata is for covers and such, but what is that stDISC5 for? A cursory Google search turned up only release changelogs and download links, but no real relevant info. If anyone here helps me, I'll gladly eat a corndog in their honor!

Woman Zombie: COMPLAAAAAAAIIIIIIINNNNNSSSSS
Englishmen Zombie: REFRAAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNNSSSSS
Thanks for the idea Lutz!

Actually, GameData is a tool for moving the install/DLC/PSN games and data from HDD0 to USB. stDisc is for Showtime and it allows Showtime to have access to the disc drive and anything on it.

seems to be updated fine without QA if you already have REBUG,I will recommend using QA and updating from recovery anyway, just to be safe.
and intersting articale:
Quote: | Cobra and E3 probably can rest in peace and fight between each other which one will forfeit first.
If Sony launches an update Cobra will be useless in less than a week.
Meanwhile 3K3Y will still stand like a silent king, not saying much, not explaining much. Just delivering in near future to those end-users interested enough in this device what they wanted all along.
3K3Y: The Artificer words
.AES encryption in HW to allow playback of unencrypted ISOs.
.Superslim adapters are in mass production.
.Boot decrypted ISOs.
.698 IRD files for 672 game. (around 10 games a day)
.App for android/ipod/ipad working = https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xk3y.dongle.android (you will need to use 01.99B6A firmware). You can choose to use the Web app or just your Ip and magic happens. See Web interface.
Today report:
.Superslim production devices = Done.
.Passthru & emulation are working. Final test was update = Done and working.
So what now?:
3K3Y mean business. They managed to release a product that actually works and will continue to work in CFW even if you get banned plus homebrew enabled and many of those promises that others failed to comply.
I won’t enter into some random “moral” contest on what is wrong or what is right.
What matters here that you have something that actually is not some stupid HTML static webpage telling you to preorder something that it’s not “there” or just a ghost like E3.
Final words:
This information which is not 100% organized, will probably lead to many questions. It’s up to the demand of the product and a possitive feedback with people that actually work with this device.
Also it’s up to end-user to pick what to believe or not.
You can chase rainbows with Cobra statements or just waiting an E3 resurrection. |
thanks PS3 HAX

Not hacking related, but something that pissed me off about my PS3. So two days ago I was playing Dragons Dogma, something came up. It took longer than I expected and I was gone for 4-5 hours (the PS3 was on). Apparently, the console shut itself down. WTF? I know it has a timer when it's idling, but it shut itself off right in the middle of a game. I've lost only an hour of playtime, so it's fine, but this seemed off to me. Is it normal or is my PS3 bonkers? It didn't even save before quiting.
