It wouldn't strain your hand more then a mouse do, so it would hardly be something new for anyone that have used a computer. Smile
Concept? I just told you that it was up and running at TGS (tokyo game show), so it's very much real and not concept.
This is quite a blow towards both sony and microsoft since this can make revolution the ultimate console for fps's.

If you want to know how it works, I suggest that you check out http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651275p1.html and other articles there about it, it will explain it for you.

I don't understand. The games aren't childish, they are just games. Videogames. They don't pretend to be mature like the Grand Theft Auto series, which delights children up and down the country. They are, for the most part, just pure gameplay. Mature games don't really exist in an abundance to request, or have console buying decisions hinge upon.

Give me an example of a mature game on the XBOX/PS2 that you think defines the meaning of the word to you.

You find it difficult to answer the question? Also, don't worry, I don't need to lighten up - I was just curious is all.

Mario is pure ownage. It's neither childish or mature. It's a videogame. Oldschool. It's simply gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. The audience is anyone who wishes to enjoy themselves.

Halo on the otherhand is a boring repetitive shooter with no discernable features worth caring about. Perhaps on some level it is more mature than Mario. But I still know which game I'd rather play.

There is nothing actually MATURE about the game however. It's a game for teenagers.

looks like arse

However, the N64 and the GC are the bestin there generations (IMHO) so with that in mind, I will wait to try it before totally writing it off.

Still looks stupid as shit though.

These were posted on Gamespot, they're just idea's of what can actually be done as far as add on's to the new controller. I have no doubt Nintendo will make these idea's come to life.

Bottom line, with Nintendo's new control, the possibilities are endless. Seem's like Nintendo has taken a round from both Sony and XBox360.

Either way Im still going to buy all 3 system's Smile

This whole rampling about mature games and not mature games is not the whole point, The point is Nintendo needs to include more game titles like RE4 to get a larger fan base. Thats the only reason I'll even looked at Nintendo...well and Zelda of course.

I don't no why your getting a hardon over this Mature/Childish theme...It has nothing to do with a younger or an older audence, interms of gameplay...mabey its time you grew up Razz Oh and I do remember games being rated...just a thought hhmmmm!!!

P.S Halo sucks ass, I used Halo for an example!

This section specks volumes.... I was hoping with that controller we would see more FPS/Genres/Mature. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but after reading that it looks like I'll be more drawn to the PS3 and X360. I think that this controller is the closest thing that your going to get that acts like a PC mouse, its to bad Nintendo is to focused on new Genres, but I guess they need ta to survive!

Nintendo needs new genres
That last point about the strategies of brand-based publishers is an important one. Nintendo needs new genres to make money.

Nintendo makes the majority of their money by leveraging their brand recognition during the early to mid-stages of a genre’s life cycle. The power of the Mario character can establish a Nintendo game as an early genre king and help tap into a new market segment for great profit. However, as they get later into the life cycle, the standardization of the genre mechanics and the intense demands of the hardcore population reduces the power of the brand.

A few major games will dominate the mature genre and it is unlikely that Nintendo’s will be one of them. Nintendo’s fixation on new genres and their unwillingness to pander completely and utterly to the existing hardcore audiences has made their name mud with many of the most vocal elite in the game industry.

Recently I’m finding today’s games to be quite boring. Almost all are ‘run around – shoot – kill’, ‘build an army – kill’, ‘sneak around – kill’. If not based on war & violence then it’s either a driving game (you can only play on so many before getting bored senseless of this genre) or an aircraft/spaceship type shooting game.

Adventure games can still be entertaining providing a compelling story is given. Sports titles can also show innovation. But I’m getting tired with all the repetition - essentially same games with different graphics. I long for the days of the Spectrum/Amiga/Nes when genres weren’t so solidified, when a game was purely based on entertainment factor, not how realistic it could be, how violent it could be, how mature it could be, and all this other useless shit that has put us in this current rut.

I hope this ‘revolution’ truly is an upheaval of the shite we currently have to eat, day in day out.

Mario, Samus, Link are brands not genres. When Nintendo include these characters they are in essence saying, "We are risking the brand reputation on this, the new genre works really well/we've polished this to sublime perfection."

I realize this but it overshadows the gameplay for me...I"m kind of sick of Nintendos characters...I mean you can only go so far with a character and a story or theme, in my opinion. I used to be a big fan with Nintendos characters but enough is enough. they need to move on.

perhaps they will. I would also use the phrase "they need to move on" to describe the current saturated market. Everything is just way too similar these days.

they're renderings of what nintendo could do. the steering wheel would not be necessary, without a base it would be uncomfortable, however, you could use the cradle controller in the same way since the pointer will be plugged into it and active...

I want to try this thing already! rawr!

Apparently Nintendo is releasing a whole new character world. should be intersting...

This controller can be a big one up for nintendo IMO.I read this thing moves as quick as a pc mouse which is outstanding on FPS games.I have a feeling that Nin will be on the comeback in a big way.As long as we don't see too many titles pushed back *sigh, like the new zelda(april 2006).If the company actually agrees with the public this time around and listens, then we should say a powerhouse of a system.I have lost alot of faith in Nin after the snes till present, but I think they may just pull it off this time around.
