Fuck yea! Love the Men of War series, especially MoW1 and Assault Squad. They might not have the best production values, but who cares about cinematic stuff and fancy cutscenes. Challenging and proper PC Master Race mechanics is what counts. Very Happy

seems they are on both games.
well, call to arms (the modern one) seems more like a modded assault squad, so i'm not surprised if the actual game comes in like an expansion for the new assault squad seeing the problems on funding.

I only hope they fix the AI tank damage..
no matter how they try to spin it and claim otherwise, enemy tanks always seem to have way too much luck. I can have 2 tanks and 2 anti tank guns sitting there, spread out for some flanking damage, and a single enemy tank can come in and seemingly one shot them all without taking any significant damage.

They try to claim that the AI doesn't get any accuracy or damage bonus, but it's BS. There are times where I've sat there and had 2 guns pounding on an enemy tank (maybe while I was busy on another area of the map) and maybe they knock a track off, so the tank is stuck and can't retaliate. However, I've had guns completely run dry of ammo, meanwhile, an enemy tank blinks at one of mine and it's instant explosion.

The best one was a couple days ago. Disabled a tiger, which takes forever.. pounded on that thing for 10 minutes. Finally get it totally repaired, in previous games, they're usually pretty stable when I take them back. So I left that there with a couple anti tank guns and some men while I focused on another part of the map, not 2 minutes later, I think.. where is my red triangle?
Come back to find some light tank had completely cleaned out the side. Anti tank guns destroyed, the tiger completely blown to crap. I've never been able to make a tiger explode, I've only destroyed the hull by setting the engine on fire. Somehow this light tank survived an 88mm gun and managed to explode a damn tiger.

And now I have stopped reinstalling MoW xD Gonna wait for new one.

but you are playing on single i presume?
it's total garbage the skirmish mode there: assault squad was builded around multy. Very Happy

if you leave a tank exposed on the sides, you deserve to get killed. Razz

I realize you think you're being real clever, but it's nothing about that at all.
Yes, I play single player because I'm in Korea, there are no local games, and any far off games have garbage pings and lag.

The AI tank damage is completely unbelievable. So many times I'll have multiple guns pointed in one direction and the single enemy tank coming in will be able to clean them all out before they take any kind of significant damage.

Last night I repaired a Jumbo. Got it turned around facing the enemy. He rolls in with a Sherman. The sherman was cutting across sideways. 75mm into the side "crew damaged"
As I'm reloading, he recovers and fires directly into the front of my jumbo. Hull destroyed. I had a medium German tank flanked by 2 AT guns, again a tank rolls in and blows all 3 of them up.

I think the other issue in playing single player is ammo. Especially on the harder levels. It can be pretty tough to advance in certain places because of the AI luck and just the amount of units they have. So sometimes you need to set up lines and defend them, however they send so many units you can very quickly run dry on ammo. I'd like to see a system where by you could park a supply truck nearby, and the squad leader would automatically run to it and distribute ammo. Obviously you'd have to try and park it safely, like behind a building or something, but the AI gets unlimited ammo, so they can sit there and defend a line, or harass your line forever. Either the enemy needs finite ammo, the player needs an ammo boost, or the soldiers need better AI for gathering ammo on their own. If an enemy is gunned down right in front of them and they have no ammo, loot his body and get back into your position.

I've also had an issue where sometimes units just won't fire at an obviously available enemy unit, like when soldiers are trying to rush into a flag area. I've got squads of units sitting there, and no one fires at a couple soldiers until I click on them.

Also the AI surrounding dropped guns is stupid as well.
soldier loses his gun, unless you get him another gun, he'll do anything to get that one back, including stand up, and run directly into a hail of bullets. You keep telling him to get in cover and he'll keep trying to get it. I've also had an issue with 50 cal machine guns falling into the terrain. Almost any time I've had a soldier killed holding one of those the gun sinks into the terrain so they can't recover it. It causes him to basically stand there (usually outside cover) with his thumb up his backside getting riddled with bullets.

I've also healed several units who aren't usable. If a soldier gets burned but healed, they become AI controlled. I've also had some people healed who get healed laying on their back. They can't stand up or move or do anything. The only way to fix it is to run them over with a tank, kill them and try healing them again. We also have the issue where a healed unit will immediately grab his weapon and want to reload, often leaving himself exposed to be shot again.

medics are a pain as they often want to stand up to heal (though sometimes I get them to do it crawling) but then they'll want to stand up again after, exposing themselves and even if you make them lay down they want to switch to their gun which makes them stand up, and if you have them running around healing people when you want to send them back to cover, you can't directly because their bag is selected. So you have to stop, with them standing their, select their gun, then select cover which can sometimes get them killed in that time.

Even if I have a squad prone, if I send a medic to heal someone, it often results in both of them standing up fiddling with their guns picked off by a sniper (who seems to lock much faster than mine does). Sometimes I get that the enemy lining up the orange circle for a sniper shot, but other times my guy just runs into a place and the circle seems to lock instantly and he's blown away before I can duck him or whatever. I've seen a single sniper seemingly fire off 4 sniper shots in the time it would take me to fire a single one, blowing away two soldiers, the medic I sent over to heal them and then the other guy I sent to grab the morphine.

I like the game, but it's buggy as hell and really unbalanced.

yep keep buying them to! Very Happy
Just miss they didn't develop the strategic part, with multi map battle operations, asymmetric warfare etc. Would like to see it play with-in a more focused period/ set of units, instead of the pushing the all 39-45 war in a single go.

The steam workshop integration might just be the missing feature to push the game further in new ways
