Can anyone suggest a decent one?

I was thinking about this one: http://www.ronis.hr/yamaha/303/subwoofer-yamaha-yst-rsw300-black/YST_RSW300/

It needs to be powered, and under 400$. Only specific brands are available in my country, so if you take a look at the link I posted you can see which ones are available (I've googled a lot and most of the reviews I've found are for stuff that isn't available over here, mostly US based).

And I'm not sure how much it matters but I'd like to have a good frequency response for it. My current speakers have woofers with frequency response of 37Hz and up, and I'm seeing some subwoofers with freq response of 40Hz and higher, so it kinda doesn't make sense that they would offer anything that my current speakers cant reproduce. (Would they?)

You cannot compare 10" subwoofer frequency response to some tiny woofers. Anyway that yamaha is pretty decent (down to 20hz which is nice), had many years ago cheaper model from that in test and it was awesome for the price.

Thanks, nice to hear from someone that tried a similar model.

(Also, my woofers are 10inch, so not exactly tiny Smile But they still lack that particular oomph)

Of the choices you have Yamaha is the only one I'd go with.

Finally got that Yamaha. Sounds great, it's huge though (almost 50 pounds) Very Happy. And what I was really hoping was that my high and mid range would also sound better. And they do, extremely clear vocals now that the receiver doesn't need to power those low frequencies.
