looking for a plugin [solution] to display pdf files on a wordpress site. It should require no plugins. Issuu, scribd, netpublicator, edocr, googledocs, groupdocs are not an option.

You have about zero chance to do this well. I had a similiar problem a while ago with embedded pdfs at work, and we never found a proper solution to do this.
The most interesting project I found was this: https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/
A javascript based PDF viewer that can be embedded in websites, open source and supported by Mozilla. We had performance problems with mobile devices though and it did not support some PDF features, don't know what changed in the past year though. Maybe give it a try... it was the only way to show pdfs without browser plugins, but didn't work out for us.
Edit: Just saw that you looked for an actual solution for wordpress, and this does need coding expertise. So not for the faint hearted, and maybe not for you.
