Hmm reading the other topic and it seems that people with the older (ubee) modems are only using 1 upload channel, and thus this can be the issue of us not getting maxed out.
Gonna call again and demand a new modem then.

Haha Ankh I was thinking the same when I read this. *Storms off to bredband2 to whine about the 8mbps!*
Saus, be reasonable. On nearly every connection I have been there is a trade off on the maximum speed. Usually more on the upload side than on the download side. They and you can't vet all the equipment in between and calculate the congestion.
I think you are just having a problem with your too high expectations. Would it be nice to get it a bit faster: sure. But the amount that you are talking off will not make a huge difference on time. To be realistic I think a steady 12 and maybe 13 at times is the most you can hope for.
I never expected 100/100, or 30/20 in Belgium before. Too may variables to take account for to get max performance.
So chill a bit, complain it is your right but also don't go overboard with complaints (I know it's a dutch thing to do... I kid I kid )

Maybe because you posted that after I was in the process of typing.
And again, keep thinking that is the problem... Common Saus you are a bit goofy but not dumb

That IS the problem, IIRC, you are from Belgium originally right? So you prolly know Dutch.
Read the topic i posted on prev page, see how many with the older modems don't get maxed out and how many with the newer do get maxed out.

Yup I am, I know it can be a problem. I just don't want you to expect MAXING out. That's why I hinted about being happy with a 12/13Mbps from a 15Mbps line. Unless it's a company that pushes more juice through than the max speed.
But with all that said: demand a new modem because in my opinion 90% of the ISP's are damn lazy about that, having customers with years old wearing down modems or modems with not the specs for the new lines.

Yeah i'm not expecting a solid 15mbit up.
But my previous max, with 10mbit, was 9.2mbit and upload at 1.2MB/s.
So at the very least, i'm expecting 14mbit out of it.
Those few mbit that i'm missing now, makes a HUGE difference with upload times..
But i guess only people that upload quite often only know what i mean.

Bwah, I do know what you mean. Been there enough with the crap upload speed you got in Belgium. Just that after a time I stopped caring about the few hours people had to wait more for my content.
But yeh it is a difference I can't deny it
Anywho, hope they grant you a new modem.

Why i was saying (or asking i guess) is the 150/15 the minimum that's guaranteed, or is it the 'optimal' promised?
Most ISP's here in give speeds as "if your connection, is good, and its not raining, and its Sunday and the internet gods are smiling on you..you probably will get these speeds"
Like mines 50/10 I got about 8ish up on average. But calling them and complaining will only get me a "the speeds indicated is the max set for your line in the docsis, if its within 75% of whats stated when measured, then your within the range of tolerance that we consider not an issue".
So wasn't me not reading it, it was me wondering if the 150/15 was sold as "at LEAST this" or like here, "at MOST this".

I think the MINIMUM for upload they NEED to provide (yes the gov here took action against the above mentioned bullshit), is 13mbit.
But that's the absolute minimum, if they can't get above it, i have the full right to terminate my contract and get money back for the time i was under it.

damn lucky you,we need regulation like that here.
Its not as bad as 10 years ago though on how they deal with whats 'considered bad'.
I remember I had 1.5/0.5 speeds..and was getting 0.2 download..called and got told "no its not guaranteed 1.5 we only guarantee 'faster than dialup' as advertised..so long as its faster than 56k, we wont do anything to fix it"

Good for them, more countries need to do the same.
Bloody ridiculous this Up to shite.
I have no complaints about my speed, its enough for me, but I do resent paying for up to 80 when I get 45

Well good thing we got a Dutch woman for the digital agenda in the EU, so who knows, they might regulate it as an EU rule rather then per country.
But i doubt that this will happen on short period.

Yeah, well, probably there's a clause in the contract that says you should not use the connection to download illegal content or pirated content, no matter what the law in NL is at the moment regarding piracy. They probably promise those speeds under 'normal behavior', which of course they can interpret the way they want. I really doubt playing hard ball will have any success if your real reason for complaining is the low speed on usenet... I am assuming you don't need usenet to share high resolution pictures of your cat...

Ehm the ISP can fuck off if they want to know what he is doing with his speed. Maybe he is doing some server maintenance, uploading stuff to his server, is using a cloud service to sync his cat pictures or maybe streams himself dildoing his ass in 4k. Whatever, he can't be forced to share WHY he needs 13mbit/s, if they are obliged to deliver

@spankie
I downloaded TB's a day and uploaded hundreds of GB daily, never got a single call.
Don't get it why you keep comparing it with your personal experiences, we ain't Belgium and (lucky) never will be.

Spankie which ISP was that lol
I pulled 800gb a month on Belgacom and 2 TB's on Dommel and never had a phonecall.
(No not doubting your story, just curious which one it was since I deserved a lot of phonecalls back then )

spankie, i really feel for you man.
I know that the ISP's over there are fucking horrible..
I think most are still using data limits right? And those without are goddamn expensive.
Or did that change now finally?

I know that feel Saus.
I pay 20€ a month for a glorious 4Mbit and instead I got a 3.8 that goes on and off on daily basis because all the infrastructures are from 2002

The big players are horrible yeh. I had dommel for the past years and that one is without cap (no stupid FUP either) and not that expensive. But if you compare it with Sweden than Belgium and even the Netherlands ISP's are crooks
Thought the data limits in Belgium have mostly changed to FUP's but I can't be certain.
