It looks like that was "Operation Payback".

$6 ($3 for a limited time) get you some of the best community maps designed for "Classic Casual" play on the official dedicated servers.
Money (or a portion of it anyway) of each sale goes to the original creators of the maps.
If someone has bought the map pack, then he can invite his Steam friends to play together, without them having to buy the map pack as well.
The season ends on July 31st when a new map pack will go for sale, presumably.
All the maps have been made by the community and you can play them right now without spending a single cent. I guess the difference is that by buying this you can reward the creators with money and you get to play on the official servers.

I play a bit but I think we are worlds a part (Australia).
bought the community pack, can't complain for 2.99 USD. With our dollar the way it is now, I love when valve list it in USD (the way it should be)

Haven't touched this since it came out, with the new map-pack I might give it another shot just to see what's new. Honestly, I haven't big into CS since something like 2005.

Aye, that's exactly it. Some hacks are blatant, like aimbots snapping to targets, but a "good" cheater will know how to use wallhacks without giving themselves away to the non-cheater. That's when it's best to have a cheater on your, someone that knows what to look for specifically.

What makes you think it will go Fap 2 Play? I am pretty sure TF2 had crates and other shit in it before the F2P transformation.

Just me being overly pessimistic  (or realistic?). I agree with you, hopefully this will stay immune from the gameplay-changing p2w stuff for some time at least.
There are just aesthetic additions planned for now, which is reassuring, but you never know these days...  |

I think that even if they add op items, the classic loadout will stay the same as it is right now forever. The competitive matches will always have the classic loadout and the new items will be for the Casual mode only, which is not a big deal for me.
