I've played all the total war realism mods and liked it at first but they did something to the battle AI that was not present in the original game. In short, the AI is a total moron. In the original unmodded game battles would be alot tougher. Also the map AI is not nearly as good. Finally, cavalry are somewhat broken in the mod.

The original game was a disaster about the multiplayer. There were always connection problems also after the 1.2 patch and moreover the units were not balanced (The cavarly were really too strong). I hope that all these issues are solved with the expansion.

battle ai always sucked pretty much. maybe its because you played before without the 1.2 patch? the 1.2 patch broke so many things its not even funny. never heard of rtr breaking the ai(more than it was already broken). try playing RTR 6.0 on very hard with the darth formation mod installed on top. darth formation really helps the ai not throw away troops like a retard. anyways in this combination the ai will actually put up a fight.

tnx to the guy that mentioned RTR, gave the game new life to me. the mod seems great. but as always the AI arnt a master at strategi. sure its not bad. but still somethings they do are retarted.
anyways big TNX for the mod didnt even knew it existed.

personally id stick with rtr6.0. it's funny, they spent monthes testing it and delaying it and promising that there would be little to no bugs upon release and yet theres even more, just blatant ones too. like half of the germanic units are impossible to recruit and an annoying movement bug, where your general only moves halfway then stops. and other things like bizarre unit stats. but its free, so i guess i cant bitch too much. just wish they didnt hype 6.1 to be the end-all perfect ver. of rtr. hm i played the demo recently and thought it felt a bit too arcadish.... the fighting at night is a great touch and everything, and the new factions kick ass, especially the goths and franks but dunno...the units speed feels like they are all on crack and they all go down way too easy... hopefully everything will be as easy to change as the last one and someone will come out with a semi-realism mod until the rtr team get a proper 7.0 done. anyways ill probably buy the gold pack when it comes out but too many other badass games coming out soon to buy an expansion i might only play a few mins.
