You're most certainly not the only one. The lens flare stuff is pathetic but sadly it's a JJ Abrams trademark.. lens flare all the things! It's a shame, after the fuck ugly lens flare abuse in the last Star Trek film, I was hoping they'd tone it down for Into Darkness.. I guess that was a pointless hope Sad

Don't mind the flares at all. Never bothered me while watching Into Darkness a bit. In the past they did to an extent, but not anymore. Now I just ignore them in the same way I do when watching Asian WebRips with hard-coded subs.

i actually dont mind the flares either, because it gives the film a kinda bright, crisp, shiny unnatural synthetic science fiction'y vibe...

i was much more bothered by the freakish looking tranny than i was with the flares in this particular film anyway lol

It only had a 10-second screen time in total for the whole movie. Laughing Plus, I'd personally hit it. Me Gusta

The (quite basic) plot and numerous philosophical matters raised by the protagonists weren't enough to create an emotional bond, since the particular style kept putting me me off. I guess this kind of movies is simply not for me. Sad

Nah dont take judgement from that movie. I also have a different choice considering manga. Try these movies instead.

Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Vampire Hunter D

Thanks, I have these in my backlog along with others that Yondy recommended to me some time ago. Very Happy Will watch them in the future!

Haha Very Happy It's easily the worst (I enjoyed the last season, unlike many), although it's still The Wire of course. It has that moron from True Blood as the central character, and his son isn't much better.
However, it gets better when you watch it a second time, after the complete series. You get where they're going to with the story.

I am 20 minutes in Star Trek: ID and I had to stop to just say how glad I am there are still big budget movies that know how to do CG.

Iron Man 3 left me such a sour taste in my mouth with the put simply wrong visual style they chose. This on the other hand is very well done and crystal clear. Kudos!

*Pain & Gain - 6/10
not funny enough
*Das Boot 3.5h version - 9/10
epic
*7 Psychopaths - 6/10
a bit of a mess
*God Bless America - 7/10
I expected it to end in a real crappy way, but it surprised me. Stil,l at times it didnt really feel like a movie.
*Adventures of Tintin - 8/10
Absolutely beautiful looking. I wish it had more substance tho. It felt a bit like an episode of some tv series.
*Oblivion 7/10
I love that scifi is really popular now :>. Story couldve been better. It ended kinda abruptly.

1-2 are fantastic comedies. Eddie Murphy at his best (add to that Trading Places).

3 I didn't like it that much, though probably still better than most "comedies" nowadays.

Star Trek: Into Darkness - 7.75/10 ( aka in between 7.5 and 8 )

Better than the first (which I did like) and definitely much better than Abram's previous film ( Super 8 ).
Witty dialogue, superbly acted, amazingly shot (the camera frames the action and moves in the frame expertly), jaw-dropping visuals. The majority of the CGI is done in a flawless way. (I'm thinking the few shots that weren't as convincing were probably done by another vendor than ILM who did the majority of the work.)

With one exception.

Khan as a character, actor, subplot feels completely out of place. I didn't like the actor, his dialogue, the role he plays in the story.. it's like he was added the last moment and not developed at all? Which wouldn't make sense? Dunno..

Other, minor, issues:

- The film loses momentum that it never manages to gain back at about 3/5 of its duration. Of course that's when we begin to have to deal with Khan. Still there ARE occasional moments of brilliance in the final acts, just less of them.

- The script has a very predictable twist. As a story it's nothing special, we've seen this movie a hundred times already. But the dialogues are witty and funny.

- A character appears in her underwear in a very awkward manner. Dunno what they were thinking. I do understand the intent of the scene, but why was it shot so awkwardly? It didn't feel sexy to me.

Conclusion: Star Wars is in VERY good hands. All it needs is a decent enough cast and script.

Yes, I had trouble expressing my opinion with a score. And I know it sounds a bit ridiculous.

My score was meant to reflect "very close to 8" which is the score I give to a movie that has left me VERY satisfied, which this movie didn't quite.. but I also felt 7.5 is too "low".

This is why I write a paragraph or two about how I found a movie instead of typing just a score, because I, of course, can express much better my opinion that way. Smile

For me personally, I find that having a scale for 1 to 5 is enough.

1. - The movie was crap.
2. - The movie was bad but had some watchable parts.
3. - I was entertained, that is all.
4. - Good movie, minor annoyances but above average.
5. - W00T!!!, great movie.

Now You See Me - 6/10.

It was ok for most of the movie, but I'm wondering, is the jumping around to the flashbacks normal or a result of a badly cut movie? I mean, was my version just messed up or something? Hehe. It's hard to tell.
