finished it, took me ca. 11 hrs for all missions and side-missions on hard difficulty, i would say the main story alone should be around 8 hours.
game is great if you like suda51 and his crazy ideas of which there are quite alot in this game.
i dont wanna spoil anything, so lets say it gets quite wacky and imaginative, the game also features the imo greatest beheading in the history of everything.
it is easily the best suda51 game from a gameplay-perspective, the combat is properly fleshed out and doesnt feel unfinished like in no more heroes, killer 7 etc.
the combat starts off simple, but gains considerable depth as you upgrade skills, near the end of the game once you have upgraded almost everything, its just a blast - you dash from enemy to enemy and unleash combos and one slash kills at breakneck speeds.
graphics-wise it looks good enough, nothing special, but very artistic.
sadly the framerate on ps3 isnt perfect, while it is playable, at times when there is too much going on the framerate will drop way below 30 fps, and it will become more difficult to counter/parry efficiently. it doesnt help that the camera sucks and feels like its from last generation.
difficulty-wise the game is more on the easy side, i played on hard from the beginning on and only met a few real challenges during the first half of the game, once i mastered the combat i just breezed through the 2nd half without any resistance. the only things that offered a challenge are the side missions.
i ll certainly give it another run on very hard (which unlocks after the first playthrough), but now i m off to play vesperia and dragons crown 
so overall i d give it an 8/10, if you dont like suda51 games in general, make it a 7/10.

I don't share the same opinion on brilliant gameplay. Mainly because I don't like classic H&S.
It's the dated old room-to-room locked arena H&S "job" 20-30 minutes per level with various orb-stuff collection and then comes the "execution" for 1-10 minutes which involves some interesting 2-stage boss fights. That times 12. The side missions do have different goals but it's still a "revisit the beaten area to waste some time".
That's just the core gameplay style I'm not a big fan of, but I still LOVE the the whole experience. It is what it is, and you can either tell it to fuck off into space or have a really fun time fucking off into space yourself.
SUDA51 wins.

So is there any way to change the menu and subs to english for the ps3 version or it is only playable with english voices and jap text?

i played the jap version and had voices, menus, subs, everything fully in english from the start without changing any settings.
i do have my ps3 system settings on english though.

By the sound of it I'll give it a miss, Suda's games are aimed at the Japanese market where the more bizarre the better but in the West its almost like its become not cool if you don't like Manga etc which for me is daft, you either like the game or not and if you find it too strange then its simpy that and not that "you don't get it" and therefore you are stupid.
I'm a Python fan so I understand bizarre and strange humour like theirs was at times but there's bizarre and Japanese bizarre.
The worst I saw it was on the Snes, you would get little groups of people who would exclaim that they are learning Japanese and Japanese games are so much better so those that don't get them are stupid, it became a real clique yet years later you ask how the Japanese is coming on and 99% said they were no longer doing it.
Suda is the shock jock of gaming but I find all his games follow the same path, we all like a bit of slice and dice but there needs to be more than just that, endless scenes that look like you are on mind altering drugs grow weary for me..
Just my 2p...Not meant as a dig, just a personal opinion.
