Umm, Day of Defeat went retail long before steam and Half Life 2. It was always free to play, but it had gone retail. Now that it has been completely redone on the Half-Life 2 engine you can consider it an ADDON, or EXPANSION if you like.
It's not a Half-Life one retail game, or a Half-Life one modification. It's a NEW title.
Just because you bought the first season of the Simpsons on DVD doesn't mean you are entitled to the second season for a very poor and leaky example (so any smartasses STOP NOW - the point was made clear.)

No crackfix has been released. Since there aint a problem with the rls.
If the launcher doesn't work just make a shortcut on hl2.exe with:
........hl2.exe" -steam -game dod
if you get errors in game.. well we don't know try re-installing .Net 1.1

Yea that could happen if you use the "-steam -game dod" right? Or does the "-steam" only use the files in that folder?

It doesn't even require you to have steam installed, let alone have a steam account.

Just played it for a bit online. It's OK I guess. Beautiful new graphics. I like it that if you come out of a dark area your eyes have to 'adjust' to the sunlight so everything seems very bloomy for like a second or two.

I didn't pay $20 for DOD. I didn't pay $20 for CS-S either. I paid around 35-40 GBP if I remember correctly for the whole kaboodle.

You dont need STEAM to play it, the game is stand alone and you can play on servers that are listed, althought some of them got really bad pings. There will be more servers up later since the game was just released...choke on this Gabe "Fat Fuck" Newell
