Boards of Canada?....Im lost, thats a band? and they're big? ....im so confused....

IDM is Intelligent Dance Music.
Boards of Canada is a band, no they're not big.
Listen to some Telefon Tel Aviv if you haven't. It's pretty crazy shit.

Its NOTHING like you'd expect. It's bascially just electronica. If you're into different types of music, and enjoy something with artistic merit, then you should give it a listen.

I'm suprised nobody mentioned Venetian Snares. Most of their releases could probably fit into Breakcore too though.

I've been listening to the new Boards of Canada album. It's fantastic. They added guitars this release, and its so good.

Well, Venetian Snares is more on the noize- and/or breakcore genre imho.

Loving the IDM.
Aphex twin, Boards of Canada, Autechre.. All excellent bands/artists.
Aaron funk (Venetian Snares) is not IDM, but i love him anyway and want to have his man babies <3
