They are 720p and this is quite common on PC when using a higher resolution screen so games with a lot of cutscenes can look a bit pixelated during playback. Smile
(There's a PC exclusive 1080p Nvidia logo for this game though. Razz )

And yeah I'm unsure about the case here but usually it's done in-engine and then made into a cutscene to save on performance, of course on PC it would usually work just fine in realtime.
(And these movies don't even contain any special CGI or such other than the introduction movie.)

The thing is it is not just 720p.Tbh I have nothing against 720p , I mean I watch 720p movies on my full HD screen and they look gorgeous (if properly encoded that is).
I guess they used piss poor settings when encoding resulting in this shite Very Happy

Well it's a BIK movie which is usually heavily compressed thus the poor video quality. Smile
(They are also quite common in nearly any game since BIK works on most platforms - including mobile - and file size is pretty manageable, at the cost of quality though, WMV is used in some games and AVI has also been used at times but BIK is very common.)

For the consoles it doesn't make much of a difference since they look like this -> http://www.ag.ru/games/lost-planet-3/screenshots/476735 or worse but on PC the transition is very noticeable, I'm using a 1920x1200 monitor for example and those using 30" or multi-monitor setups will probably really hate the low-quality cutscenes. Razz

EDIT: Not that I know anything of video encoding and compression vs quality but basically it's from BMP to JPG instead of BMP to PNG.

I hope they don't intend to sell that, hopefully it's a free update. Very Happy
(And why isn't it part of the game already?)

That sounds like a bitcoin miner and it's not in any "official" FLT release, more likely you got yours from a really shitty source that tampered with it Wink

Yes, my gpu fan was in "crazy mode" all day long, i cleaned it and so, but still 75-80 C at desktop, told this to a friend and he asked "Have you installed that new lost planet?Because there is a malware in it." I downloaded it from scene tracker (TL).
Then downloaded Malwarebytes and scanned, found some infections, cleared them and my temp is back to normal. Very Happy Now i don't know to play or not...i liked it alot. Sad

Another Bitcoin Miner virus, the release is fine but the source you downloaded it from obviously is not. Smile

EDIT: TL should be safe, strange.
(Strict upload rules and all that.)

Do you know if it's safe to continue playing now?
Infections are removed.

Maybe the uploader didn't test the release or just posted it without checking at all, anyways if the infection is from the installer for the game say that it installed some service that ran the bitcoin mining then it's safe but if it's the game exe that's tampered with it would be a bit risky though if it was like that then the AV solution would have deleted or quarantined the exe file. Smile

EDIT: Basically the source files were modified with either having the game exe altered or by having a alternate installer which ran the program along with installing the game so it seems everything is fine but you have that annoying crap running in the background, which can also harm the GPU. Smile

EDIT: I usually unpack installers manually though, but it wasn't due to virus risks or such but since I found it more convenient, less clutter in the add/remove program folder and no weird registry information.

http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/9785-repak-universal-extractor-17170-gora-mod/
(Just drop the exe on the program window when started, simple and it covers most of the installers including the very popular Inno one that many groups use for customized installs.)

Maybe it was from the installer, because the infections were in windows folder, not in lost planet 3 folder, which i scanned too. Smile

Thanks. Smile

What's the problem with precracked releases?
They're using their installer, so why not...

If you still have the setup file (Or downloaded files.) you could always scan that to be certain, I don't tend to keep backups though. Smile

EDIT: Unsure about a good AV solution, I use Windows Defender from Windows 8 which is pretty good now after two program updates and a number of definition releases but it's also not as aggressive as many other programs and not as customizable either.
(In addition to Windows UAC it's a pretty good protection, more so with the admin approval mode in W8 but I tend to make UAC less annoying which greatly reduces it's protection performance, he he.)

Well just watched a review for this. Looks pretty gaylord with that bearman you control and his strange running animation (he "runs" but is much slower than his animation would suggest wtf)
