Also, is solo grinding most of the content viable?

I would like to know this to.
Seems like the game is good but if it's all instanced areas then i'll pass.

Well, bad news for you; Instanced areas. (Though quite large ones, + you'll be travelling a lot by foot, so it feels even larger Smile )

got some noob questions ^^

- are there linkchains (or what was it called) like in the old FF11 online where a group would link spells after eachother for extra dmg?

- is it still a grindfest to max out jobs? (tbh I linked the grinding in FF11 Laughing )

- is there a guide with some essentials you shouldn't forget early on?

Thanks!

1. There are limitbreaks, when a full group keeps fighting a bar is filling for everyone and once filled, someone can unleash it, and depending on the user it does something. Ie for me as a monk it deals a heavy singletarget damage ~2000.

2. I think you'll get your 1st class to 50 without too much grinding, but after that you'll definitely have to grind (you're out of quests).

3. http://eorzeareborn.com/ I think people mention this quite often, though I've never used it (or any other for that matter).

Square Enix has stopped selling Final Fantasy XIV digitally because they are having problems handling the population capacities.

Decided to pick this up, against my better judgement. (I struggle to play mmo's responsibly Smile )

Runs pretty well on my budget 5560G laptop (game certainly doesn't look shit on mid-low settings either) - raiding/rvr might be an issue with my cpu but will worry about that later.

Only level 6 so don't have much to say about gameplay other than I've found it pretty fun so far.

Alina Thrace @ Phoenix

btw, never fails does it? whole morning free to play and it's cunting maintenance.

not surprising, server is so full the npc's take an age to appear sometimes and even last night selecting a quest from someone it would take ages to get the info up etc.

the servers in general are now not capable. Very Happy

Was to be expected as usual just wait 3 or more months bevore playing a new mmo, game will be fixed by then, servers are more stable and half or more of the current playerbase will have left.

Playing high-profile MMO after 3 months since the release is a bad idea. Those games are the best in exactly those first months Smile My bet is those server issues will be resovled within a week or so.

Nice humble and public sorry and the future from yoshi.. Get your hankies out lol.

First of all I want to say that I am sorry for us having to go into maintenance for the NA/EU servers. I want to apologize for taking precious time away from players during early access. From here on out is a long journey. *starts to tear up, crowd gives encouragement*

Its almost been 3 years since I took over development for FFXIV. At the time I hadn't been involved with the game that much, and I thought that it wouldn't be that big of a deal to remake it. I have always loved Final Fantasy and have always loved MMO's. *starts to tear up again* At the time, I gathered the team together and told them that we were going to remake the game just two days before we announced it to all of you on December 2nd.

I still remember it now, but at the time, we were in a studio like this one, and Souken (current director of game music) was in the background checking my mic levels. I clearly remember him standing there give me a guts pose (one fist in the air, think Rocky) but at the time I had the same kind of worries as the players; how is this really going to turn out?… Isn't this going to be impossible…. *pauses*

But one by one I got support from all of you. It was said in the questions earlier, but normally an MMO takes 4-5 years to create and carefully plan. Earlier, Wada said his role is a tank. I had the same idea of being a tank when making this game. Up until now I have gone through each facet of the game (implies that he also bore all of the responsibility).

But I am not saying that it is just me who made FFXIV: ARR. This was all due to the players around the world, the core staff here, and the hundreds of staff not here today. I came here today planning on not crying, but today we have finally taken the first step with FFXIV: ARR. And it is only the first step. Honestly I don't think we have any time to rest. We are working on patches and expansions.

More than anything I want to thank the players, especially those who started from the original FFXIV, and those that have joined our community. Thank you all for all of your support so far. I only hope that we have released a game that will not bring shame to Square Enix. from here on out there is no finishing an MMORPG. FFXIV:ARR is not a game that we made alone, but a game that we made along with all of you. From here on out we home to keep creating this game from here on out, from this place with you for 5-10 years.

I again want to say thank you for all you have done so far and we hope for your support in the future.

Dont think so i mean whats so great about playing mmos at launch, servers are lagging or you cant play at all ,emergency maintenances and bugfixes all the time and the usual waiting in line with 10 almost identical looking chars to wait for the questmob to respawn?
If you you just wait a few months you will have a way better experience.
And pls dont tell me this game is different because its not i played a lot of mmos since everquest and all of these themepark mmo launches where similiar, i tried this game in beta and i didnt see anything different its the same as every other everquest clone .

If they just had an afk kick they'd solve a lot of their problems. Easily 1/4 of my server are afk in towns and outposts for really long periods of time

Well, the first in the new world charm. You actually have players of your own level around you (which in this game might become a MAJOR issue at some point, since your game progress is in cases limited to completing group content, which cannot even be attempted alone (no choice of going to dungeon alone)).

So... conquistadors awayyyyy!

I prefer to play mmo's solo (i know, the idea of mmo is to play with many) so i will skip this one.
