FUCK YES!!! FlatOut is actually back!!!

So Much Win So Much Win So Much Win

That looks absolutely great. It really seems like what they're saying is true, as in this is what they wanted to make back then (but they weren't able because technology wasn't so advanced) with the first FlatOut which by the way (in case people forgot), it's actually the most advanced game from the series in terms of general physics and destruction, it just didn't happen to be as fun since it lacked a bit in scope. It also seems to me like they're putting a lot of passion into this, like it's a game they actually want to make and play. That sounds crazy in this day and age, right?!

Also, I noticed last night... they're actually crowd-funding this, aren't they? It seems to be more like what GGG did with Path of Exile (no publisher, just a few founder packs on their website and that's it), but crowd-funding nonetheless.

Thank you for supporting us by pre-ordering Next Car Game! We really appreciate it. We’re doing this for the fans, and your direct support is invaluable.

Hope this time Flatout 2s steering lock limit is gone, no more silly testing groups that say game is too hard.

I hope they'll add other cars classes to the game, not just all out derby cars. I loved the Bullet GT in Flatout 2.

Another thing I'd like to see is an online best times board amongst people in your Friends list (ideally with split times for sections as well). For Flatout 2, friends and I had to resort to compiling an Excel sheet for our best times. I doubt it'll happen though because the game is more "arcade" and usually only sim racers have that kind of stuff Sad

I couldn't agree more. Razz It looks like a fantastic *proper* sequel with the right amount of improvements (the cockpit view for example, or the new physics for the suspensions, not to mention the better damage model, good stuff Smile)

And to those that don't speak finnish

Our in-house ROMU engine is a beast. The ROMU engine is all about heavy metal going way too fast and crashing into stuff.

ROMU=WRECK Smile

Yep, since Rally Trophy.

We’re using ROMU, our in-house engine that we’ve been building since 2000.

I love these guys!!! I wish I had the money to support them right now... Sad

@kazemaky I guess he's talking about 3:38. That comes as no surprise to me. I bet they would have done this a long time, but they didn't know how well it would work. All the crowd-funding stuff that's been going on as of late (Kickstarter mainly) has clearly encouraged them to try that themselves. I hope this will keep happening with other developers as well so we can finally see publishers backing the fuck off (at least for the most part).

Have you played flatout? (the original, there's even demo out there, oh the times we got those too)

Far from arcade and we had plenty of "clean" racing over the net in it. That's why the Destruction Derby mode is in there, so you can go "simulation" bumping and then take it on track and try to be 1st with optional full contact.

Yes there will be those that just want to crash away, but that is on every car game out there. Just play with right people and it's pure fun.

Steam Greenlight update
We went on Steam Greenlight last week. It's been a tremendous success! We are currently voted number 26 out of 1391 games on Greenlight. 80% of voters want to see the game on Steam, choosing the "yes, I would buy it" option. Let's see if we can break into the top 20! Very Happy
