Still aint expecting much though to be honest, I remember the
10 /10) GREATESTTTTTTTTTTTT RPG EVERRRRRRR Dragon Age 2 reviews.
But that video has done its job I suppose if its making more people interested.
Haha I must admit that it's working on me too...kind of.... I went from being completely uninterested and expecting -once again- everything to fall apart to "alright you got some of my curiosity Bioware, treat it well, this is most likely your last chance.."
It's undeniable that all these videos emphasize the graphical aspect a lot, it's easy to attract people by using pretty visuals, and they are definitely aware of that.
I might be fine with something a-la The Elder Dragon May Cry of Amalurs if the level design, quality of loot and dialogues, degree of freedom/choice->consequence system, variety of enemies are actually decent.
But knowing this Bioware..I have my huge amount of bad feelings
Various images, doesn't look too bad though some of the textures a bit low-resolution but that might change.
(DA2 got a high-res texture pack for example.)
So I gather from that video showing the party in action that each character now has 3 abilities, each tied to their own button (presumably all of them are awesome). They have also seemingly copy-pasted Bethesda's TES/FO compass system. So it's some sort of God of War + Skyrim mashup?

Hopefully, as you say, in the final version of the game those environments will... evolve visually, eh. At the moment, the mountain landscape is absolutely crap.
One of my favorite landscape in any game is from Frostbite 2:
Looks good but I am not convinced until I play this game. I've been thinking DA2 was good before it was out and it turned out to be a pile of shit, they can make these videos look as good as they want. I just hope all the dungeons won't look the same like in DA2.

imo it looks hideous, plastic as fuck. also artstyle is basically non-existent.
It looks a lot better in motion, to be honest. Still, there definitely is a strange, plastic feeling to the game that kinda reminds me of SW Clone Wars (even though it's not that severe) and it's not as detailed as I would've liked. As for other things... thumbs up for the tactical view's return, but it doesn't neceserilly solve the problem. DA2's combat wasn't destroyed by the lack of isometric view - it was destroyed by being designed to spit on any kind of tactical movement and/or thinking during the fights.
Still, it does look better than what I expected. I won't let myself feel too optimistic this time, but I suppose I'm starting to lean towards "let's give them a chance".
I don't get it. I'll stick a pen in my eye before they get the benefit of the doubt on anything anymore. How some of you can look past DA2 alone is beyond me and that's not even taking ME2+3 into account (nope, sorry, neither gets anywhere near ME1)

They certainly haven't got the benefit of the doubt from me, I have no allusion that they'll return to form - though I hope that the game is good, I don't for a second give them credit until I've seen more and played it for myself
Witcher 2 wasn't awesome to me. In fact, despite purchasing it twice (well, physical copy was a gift, digital pack i bought later) I haven't played pas opening. Just like with W1. But I do have hopes for W3. Unlike with DA3, which already looks like "improved DA2". I don't want them fix DA2, I don't want them to fix a broken cart that may broke again in any moment due to the fact - I want them to return back to old cart design and improve it, build new from scratch, taking into account old things that worked well.

We are listening to the fans
Yeah, to those fans who were creaming themselves all over and clapping every time devs showed FIRESWURD or changed color of the armor, right? What about the fans who are sick of dialogue wheel concept at all and didn't want to see it. But I agree, armor color is more important.

I will post preorder links 3 weeks before release so this thread can run its course

Don't worry. After it releases and everyone is bitching about how shit it is, you can post quotes from the same people that were saying how awesome it looked in the previews.
I judge every game on its own basis. DA2 does not make DA3 automagically crap, just like Witcher 2 does not make Witcher 3 awesome.

I get what you guys are saying.
If it was one bad game, sure. But it's been 3 in a row. And not just equally bad, but progressively worse. The year after DA:O we got some bits they didn't put in originally, but at the same time the downhill descent started with ME2, which took ME and pretty much butchered out all the bits that were good (by dumbing them down or removing them altogether). Instead, they focused on ORSUM STUFFZ and badonkadonks. That was followed by DA2, which did to DA:O what ME2 did to ME. And then some. And then we got ME3, which, erm...yeah.
So no. If it's one game, fine. But it's 3 in a row. Worse every fucking time. They had 2 awesome games in a row, followed by a worthwhile expansion for one of them. And then 3 failures in a row.
As far as I'm concerned, both franchises end at their first game (well, Awakenings included for DA:O). Do I hope this isn't a steaming pile of shit again? Of course I do. I expect quite the opposite though. And it's going to take a kick-ass game to wash away the foul taste their butchering has left behind.
And in before any crybabies: if you like ME2/3, good for you. I clearly didn't. Nor did anyone who liked ME for everything but the shooting.

Yup, same here. I was silent all the time. I've just read all the recent posts and had to lol alot.

I bet, if given the actual choice, you'd rather take one that doesn't involve you sticking a pen in your eye

I can't wait to see the PC Gamer review, because if they say it's largely an improvement over DA2, it's guaranteed to get at least a 95% or more
I suppose expecting a 100% is not too far fetched. But yeah, they really didn't make it easy for themselves with that score. I would love to see what reasons they will come up with if the score happens to be lower than DA2s (going on the assumption that DAI won't actually turn out to be a worse game)
