I'm probably going to be slaughtered for this J Browman

I won't list all the MMO's I've played cos there's a lot. Apart from the rather nice eye-candy for FFXIV, what IS the appeal, exactly? I'm struggling to find anything that's, I dunno, different to other games... I am open to being enlightened!

If you for some reason don't love Fantasy Universe (as me), then it's not much different compared to other MMORPG games, i'm afraid.

you have already posted around and shown dislike to many things not just this mmo here in this thread, I find you can be a little negative of a ton of things Smile "grumpy character" Smile

The appeal is if you like FF, even though the game is relaxed and straight forward it does have a nice game play feel and its not taxing.... Think of it as a come home look forward to just dabbling in the FF world for a bit without any pressures.. I mean come on you can kick back with controller and still get a samey effect of playstyle with no keyboard and mouse if on console.

Its fun for a % that is all Very Happy no less Very Happy

Surprised

I'm not grumpy. Just cynical Laughing

Thats very true about the FF universe, that it does have, and it's good. And yes, it is a good distraction.. I was just curious to see if I'd missed anything, thats all Smile

nope, the fact its a GOOD FF scenario is what carries it for those playing the mmo and likes the ff world.

It looks great and plays well together on that score, but alone as a mmo only with no FF loving from the player Its still well made and a good little smack and slash mmo but does not hold anything different no.

I play it for FF and for the how well it plays out and I have a little respect for the devs who got it to its well made state from what it was 2 years ago. Its a fair feat in itself I think.

If you were there from start you would of seen it first hand.

its simple it went like this.

1. early start happens, shit tons create/login, first 2 days go by, people saw it was popular and the talk around forums etc was heavy.

2. People watching in buy at last day or so and also jump in by the masses.. this causes servers to go 90000 and 1017 errors as the influx was large.

3. after trying to fix those errors first day after it happens it shows its ugly head again and they make a post how sorry for it all etc etc..

4. Seems after another day of trying to fix the problem they can not, they admit they are undercapacity (or over however u see it) on the servers hardware as far as logged in accounts go and try to hold off the heavy logins by limiting connections through the day.

5. The limit problem goes also tits up as the servers are just hammered to get in and grab a que spot over and over (did i say it was popular)

6. They say fuck it make a post of server cap and world updates to come and drop the digital purchases (they are still being bought as this is all going on), make a sorry post and leave the servers as they were with people trying to get a login spot till the new maintenance happens.

7. eof

yeah people are logging in and going to work for 8+hrs while kicking feet sitting on boxes around the world. ive seen it first hand there are even popular areas this is going on in and its like a drop in place for strays to hang till they can play.

And working log-in queues.

Imagine you wouldn't have to try to get in a thousand times and only have to wait in a queue.

But that's obviously asking too much.

Having to read the 1017 error over and over again, 8 days after the release no less, is obviously better.

so far though, if I ever get a que it just stays on screen counting down till I get in.. only ever had the error numbers if the initial connection would crap out due to auth overload.

Well getting to a queue is the tricky part really.

Also, i have been kicked out of a queue 3 times since release, with a 1017 error. While i was in a queue already.

Anyone else finding it really hard to get groups as a DPS?

Kurosaki, what is the class spread like at 50? Loads of BM's and Dragoons? Is the Bard well populated?

Yup, you can't relax till you are ingame.
1 - you need to pass the lobby server error, so you can press start.
2 - you need to hope the character lists can be updated for NA/EU, so you can select your character
3 - hope the server isn't full
4 - hope you don't get kicked out of the queue after all

It's a game on its own Laughing

I'm in now though, in 1 go, which was quite amazing. Time to get all the crafting classes. I love and hate how they did crafting at the same time. I like being able to do everything instead of making a choice. I dislike how every craft needs some stuff from other crafts. Everything is intertwined. This will get less annoying when I get everything going I guess, but my weapon tab in the armory is getting quite full Laughing

So far it seems like (on shiva) DPS >Tanks > Healers (at 50) . Dunno really about the spread, but I seem to get a BM in every pug.

Though they also seem easily to be one of the best dps classes right now.

My monk does not compare even nearly. My Thaumaturgist is level 28 and I crit for 250+ already Razz (I've almost full green gear (compares to rares in WoW))

My monks max crit at 50 is a bit over 300.
