my default settings at Extreme, in the benchmark are between 40-55 fps with that all video memory button clicked, the same without it clicked though it stutters more for me without it clicked. I notice for campaign and such it doesn't matter what you choose it runs the same for me. So I put it Insane? Haven't done a battle at that setting though. Meh, generally it's ok. Though as some have mentioned Shogun II ran and looks a lot better at this point in time.

I have noticed the landscapes look god awful even on extreme settings. Like objects in the distance don't have any ambient occlusion or shadows, so they just look bright and out of place.

All right time to finally unpack this beast and hope that my PC doesn't commit seppuku like it did with Company of Heroes 2.

As far as default settings go after reading TW topics all day I can safely say that the game defaults the Extreme settings regardless of the computer Smile

Anyway, with those settings:

I get max. 66, min. 49 and 59FPS on average. My spec: i5-3470, 8GB RAM, 660TI OC and SSD. 1600x900 resolution.

Played the game for some time, i was never fan and never played much the previous total wars, i prefer Civ. Anyway..the campaign map is pretty ugly.. and the whole shit with the battles is unplayable p if there is rain on the map. I think there are some memory leaks or something too.. Most unoptimized shit ive seen for quite some time..

How the flying fuck does one exempt a province/region from taxes so that they don't drain food supply and are happier?

It's mentioned several times via the tutorial pop-ups and encyclopedia, yet, on this charcoal and papyrus fucking disgrace of a UI the option is nowhere to be found.

I don't have the game.. All I see is from LPs on Youtube.

Basically you select your army and then below in the middle of the screen where you have most of the buttons, there should be a change stance army. Put it to "none". And maybe wait a turn, to be sure.

hey for you guys with AMD cards like me, I noticed that with the AA option ticked in game, my frames drop like 10 on the benchmark. From the CCC I can set it to 8x and lose no frames? Wtf? lol ah well, try it. Worked for me. Or is it not working at all from the ccc, fucking game lol

There is no need to do that, they added it as an in-game option this time. Click "unlimited video memory".

I tried the benchmark and surprisingly the performance seemed good (ultra/1080p) on my 570GTX. Nearly 50fps on average...I was quite happy. LIES

As soon as I played Carthago with them ships, sea and buildings..I got something like 25fps on average. Laughing Had to lower all the settings from ultra to high in order to have a playable game, and there were still huge slowdowns. Oh well.

It looks pretty, but nothing really special if we compare it to Shogun 2..I dare to say it actually looks worse at times, because of the lower LOD, and textures fail to impress. Hopefully it will be fun to play...still too early to judge the gameplay though. Razz

nVidia just released the SLI profile via that GeForce Experience app - frame-rate doubled accordingly, now I can finally play without seething in anger!

Still haven't found how to exempt regions from tax - or how to effectively manage the unhappiness factor efficiently (without leaving an army there for 15 fucking years to deal with the guaranteed insurrections).

Also, when a faction's last city is taken, or it is subjugated, all of their military units should either vanish (they no longer effectively exist), or return home (because I fucking told them to - I'm the new boss after all Very Happy). I don't know what dipshit decided it was a good idea for their armies and agents to wander around aimlessly harassing me for 20 years after their city is gone. This isn't fucking Braveheart.

Immunity --> AFAIR from playing the prologue yesterday (I'm in work now, can't verify this) - when you click on the settlement and select the details tab (or one of the others Very Happy) there is a tick in upper left corner saying something about taxation. It's NOT in the tab where you control the taxes globally.

Mine ran totally fine on the default extreme settings...

I did notice slowdowns, but not when zooming in, but rather when panning around in campaign map Razz
