As opposed to what? JTAG/RGH? Cost and effort and skill, mostly.

I can't speak about the X360 version, since I don't know its requirement.
But it's a fact that some games do need an updated kernel/dashboard to work fine on JTAG/RGH.
I myself had many recent games that failed because I didn't update (or sometimes games acting weirdly, but working nonetheless : Forza Horizion and out of sync audio comes to my mind).
But usually, it's because it's been 1y or more that I didn't update. I doubt that you really need the latest dash to play GTA since the game is gold for a while now. Maybe the one before, but I doubt it...
We'll see.

That's not what cyclone means. The param.sfo will be artificially locked to 4.30 and will demand an update for OFW users, ... |
Yeah I guess cyclone explained it before with a ninja post. Don't know much about PS3 stuff and barely more about the RGH box (although I quite understand the process there). |

I know this is a valid point but most people don't even go online.

Wouldn't mind if the 360 was first, I preordered it on PS3 already and will use it to get into GTA:O.
So I might have to replay it again anyway at some point.

the only reason i can see myself going 100% legit in next-gen, is due to the amazing psn+ content.

Apparently i missed something i figured LT+ 3.0 would run everything.
All the games i burned with truncated worked fine, so i am hoping GTA V will also.
Since i clueless what you guys are talking about (ghetto trick) lol
Gotta say though, did not install any of them to the hard disk, so who knows maybe that will not work.
Never bothered flashing my IHas burner though.

lt30 here and I am happy. no need for any maintenance with it. Just get disc and burn. It's not like I am burning discs more than twice a year now

That's why. Had you tried to install, it would fail and error towards the end and since GTAV has a mandatory install, you're screwed without it. Truncating simply won't work so you'll have to burn the disc correctly using an iHas (or compatible) drive.

yeah. the point was that truncated and not installed discs had no time to do proper check.

not exactly, i installed all my truncated games so far, many of them fail on the first install (some of them even twice or thrice) but eventually they install properly.
now dont ask me why i still havent gotten a cheap ihas burner, i have a special place in my heart for retarded ghetto tricks, having tried most of them including the old psx needle trick

Now I am happy that I bought a nice crappy iHAS 124D a while ago. It isn't working that great, but sometimes it does! (I mean overburn youknow).
Just scared it wouldnt even install it to HDD on overburn at my 124D. Tried several times (not each game but a couple). And it did stop somewhere, even the game worked great. But I don't exactly know if it were truncated ones or overburned ones that I've tried though.
Fingers crossed! =D
Otherwise I'll take my bike, go to a friend with 2 DL's, get it burned, and PLAY!

U sure? Never got truncated installed. Every truncated failed here (same percentage everytime). (before I got iHASH124).

Not sure about this, I never heard of any X360 game that has a mandatory install that installs the whole disc, as if you chose to install the disc to HDD.
Most likely it will just be a big CONTENT folder, like a DLC, that copies to the HDD, and I'm not sure truncating prevents this from happening.
Worst case scenario, just copy the CONTENT folder from disc2 to a usb stick or to your X360 hdd directly, that should work too.
