As opposed to what? JTAG/RGH? Cost and effort and skill, mostly.

I can't speak about the X360 version, since I don't know its requirement.

But it's a fact that some games do need an updated kernel/dashboard to work fine on JTAG/RGH.
I myself had many recent games that failed because I didn't update (or sometimes games acting weirdly, but working nonetheless : Forza Horizion and out of sync audio comes to my mind).

But usually, it's because it's been 1y or more that I didn't update. I doubt that you really need the latest dash to play GTA since the game is gold for a while now. Maybe the one before, but I doubt it...

We'll see.

That's not what cyclone means. The param.sfo will be artificially locked to 4.30 and will demand an update for OFW users, ...

Yeah I guess cyclone explained it before with a ninja post. Don't know much about PS3 stuff and barely more about the RGH box (although I quite understand the process there).

So did you test it yet? I'm eager to find out whether this overburn works as reliably as the iHas drives do Smile

Burning now as we speak, default imgburn settings, recognized 8.7GB right off the bat. I'm running home during lunch to make sure the disk works so I'll let you know on steam a bit later Wink

Exactly this, that's why I did LT3.0. Would you really want to miss out on GTA Online?

Not all the games need the mp3 ghetto trick. For example Splinter cell: blacklist and the bureau were both xgd3 and needed truncate but no mp3 ghetto trick were needed on them.

I haven't lost my mind. I know exactly where I left it.

some of the newer games don't work with that - so i wouldnt expect this one, with 2 full discs, mandatory install etc, to work if its truncated?

I thought truncated discs cannot be installed? If that's still true then you're right, I don't think GTAV will work when truncated.

it differs from person to person, many people said you need to do it for skyrim or you get disc auth error, i played over 100 hours of skyrim without ghetto trick and didnt get it even once.
a few months later i played max payne 3 for 3-4 hrs without a problem, got the disc auth error and from then on it kept happening every 5-10 minutes.
hence i just use the ghetto trick for every new game by default, i dont see a problem in having a silent mp3 run during the first 5 minutes of your game session anyway.

burning is a pain in the ass
my 360 is actually collecting dust even if its been updated to latest fw, plus its so noisy (gta IV was unplayable and a lot of clipping) even when they made possible hard drive install
I hope the ps3 version will be there first and a 3.55 fix Smile

Indeed. Mine is still at LT3 also. Don't got the effort and/or money for the tools to get it done. Still have Dual Layers left so I don't got anything to worry. A little more time, yes, but I don't care. Waited couple years for GTA V. When its there, I don't care I have to wait 20 - 60 min later to play w/e. As long as I can play it'll be fine Very Happy

Hopefully my iHAS 124D will burn this beauty 100%. It sucked at most of the games with the BurnerMax Payload. Some worked. Anyone got experience with those drives?

The current thing what I have with my 124D is...
1. When finalising disc on overburn, its stuck at 99% for like, 2/3 minutes. After that, it sais complete but it does NOT always work!

Wouldn't mind if the 360 was first, I preordered it on PS3 already and will use it to get into GTA:O.

So I might have to replay it again anyway at some point.

That's what I had thought as well, truncated disks are unable to be installed; and in the case of GTAV, someone had mentioned that the first disk is a mandatory install, with the 2nd disk being used for play. Might be wrong here though...

Yup.. same here Sad I don't even have a soldering iron, let alone the skill or money or time to RGH my own machine. I'd pay someone else to do it if they weren't all such expensive assholes - over here at least. You're looking at €100 *minimum* Screw that.

Apparently i missed something i figured LT+ 3.0 would run everything.
All the games i burned with truncated worked fine, so i am hoping GTA V will also.
Since i clueless what you guys are talking about (ghetto trick) lol

Gotta say though, did not install any of them to the hard disk, so who knows maybe that will not work.
Never bothered flashing my IHas burner though.

That's why. Had you tried to install, it would fail and error towards the end and since GTAV has a mandatory install, you're screwed without it. Truncating simply won't work so you'll have to burn the disc correctly using an iHas (or compatible) drive.

not exactly, i installed all my truncated games so far, many of them fail on the first install (some of them even twice or thrice) but eventually they install properly.

now dont ask me why i still havent gotten a cheap ihas burner, i have a special place in my heart for retarded ghetto tricks, having tried most of them including the old psx needle trick Very Happy

Now I am happy that I bought a nice crappy iHAS 124D a while ago. It isn't working that great, but sometimes it does! (I mean overburn youknow).
Just scared it wouldnt even install it to HDD on overburn at my 124D. Tried several times (not each game but a couple). And it did stop somewhere, even the game worked great. But I don't exactly know if it were truncated ones or overburned ones that I've tried though.

Fingers crossed! =D

Otherwise I'll take my bike, go to a friend with 2 DL's, get it burned, and PLAY! Laughing

U sure? Never got truncated installed. Every truncated failed here (same percentage everytime). (before I got iHASH124).

Not sure about this, I never heard of any X360 game that has a mandatory install that installs the whole disc, as if you chose to install the disc to HDD.

Most likely it will just be a big CONTENT folder, like a DLC, that copies to the HDD, and I'm not sure truncating prevents this from happening.

Worst case scenario, just copy the CONTENT folder from disc2 to a usb stick or to your X360 hdd directly, that should work too.
