Not to mention how many loading zones Max Payne 3 had. It was almost between every room in some maps.

@sabin1981 I also said elsewhere, that if done right, it is possible to achieve a similar result. If you look at some of the levels in MP3, a distant Brazil is shown, which look better than most of GTA4. So if their engine is capable of scaling distant graphics properly, it could be done. From everything I've seen so far (videos especially), it looks so.

It was, but from purely graphical standpoint, it was as complex as what should be rendered at a distant GTA. Moving vehicles, characters, buildings, terrain and dynamic skies.

All I'm saying is that from what we've seen of GTAV so, it looks incredibly impressive for supposedly running on seven year hardware. When I (and others) mentioned how awesome MP3 looked and ran on the PC, in comparison to GTAIV, and that it gave me hope RS had really optimised the shit out of RAGE, you came back with "small maps" excuse.

No, because this is a closed corridor shooter, while GTA is open. GTA4 also ran 60FPS smooth inside buildings. Let's hope GTA5 is optimized, but I'd take it with a shovel of salt. |
If they really have updated their engine to such a degree that we can have an open-world game like GTA, combined with the gorgeous visuals of MP3, on seven year old hardware? That's awesome! It gives hope for a better PC version too

Well I think the gameplay vids shown were bullshit (i.e. not on current gen consoles). Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yeap, it's all true, but either they have some very convincing bullvids, or they did the impossible.

I don't see how you guys were impressed by the videos shown. They're quite a blurry mess/aliased/crappy textures etc.. compared to all the screenshots so far at least.

What? Textures in above shots also look low res. So were the textures in MP3 on PC. That's all you gonna get on current gen game.

the marketing part for gta V is estimated (R* don't tell) to be 100 mil $, making its actual production budget around 165 million $. movies are listed only by production budget, this makes gta V over 100 mil cheaper than avatar and 140 mil. cheaper than potc. (avatar marketing = 150 mil so complete budget for avatar is around 400.000.000$ )
