yeah well, i think with all the crap that happened i might not extend my subscription. only had 15 days to begin with (+7 as apology by SE) since I'm a 1.0 player.

maybe in a couple months i'll come back when they added actual endgame content, pvp and balance.

i expect it'll take SOE (lol) that long to recover my shit anyways.

and i don't know how they will do that anyways, what if they rollback character and all that i do in the meantime will be for nothing.

Finally got my Ifrit's Claws Razz took 24 tries to see them drop for the first time. Luckily no other monks in the group.

Then I did Ampador for the first time (actually got through now) and got 4 pieces of loot Razz

Ugh I bought it after a (female) friend urged me to try it. How on EARTH does it get such a high Metacritic score?

- combat is extremely generic and DULL
- the moment you stray a bit too far back, the enemy runs off back to where it started and you can't hurt it. In most games this is a big distance, in this game it's like 20 feet. As an archer, this makes no sense.
- fetch quests, more fetch quests, stupid kill quests, with no proper story to make them worthwhile.
- lots of tedious needless actions needed. Instead of a quest automatically giving a fetch item, you have to manually drag it on a window and click a button. Fun for 5 year olds but, seriously, why? There's NO POINT! Just grab the fucking item already, you shitty game.
- not a single line is voiced - is this 1993?

This is the most generic MMO I've played in a very long time - and the exact reason why I avoid Eastern MMOs as the plague since they can't make a good MMO if their life depended on it. Aion at least had a lot more going for it - this? This is the very definition of generic and everyone tells me it remains like that throughout the game. Great Rolling Eyes Also seems all the people saying how great this is, never played the real great MMOs which explains a lot ...

Yes, I totally agree with you. I also bought it and started playing a couple days ago. It is just another MMO. Nothing new. It will become F2P in less than a year.

I'll give it another go and try some crafting but I don't have high hopes. The game doesn't feel fun to control either - something about the controls feel "off". It's like they're not as responsive to use or something. Also there's WAY too many people around in the starting area - it feels seriously crowded. Is it my imagination or is the starting area also a main hub? That's never a good idea for an MMO - you start people off in a smaller area. Everquest II did it best - you had a separate starting island and I LOVED that island.

In fact, if the entire Everquest II game had been such islands, it would have been my second favorite MMO of all time. But then they put you on the main land and you had the same dull WoW-style open farm lands, woods, etc. Why do MMOs keep making such generic areas? Guildwars 2 did it a bit better but in general, MMOs just have too much filler content. Final Fantasy is one of the worst offenders I've seen so far.

Hm, I'm afraid the game is getting boring... I have the whole darklight armor set already and got the garuda weapon yesterday. crafting is really boring and there's still no pvp content or a patch to fix some shit. all that is left to do for me is to kill titan & do bahamut's coil - maybe lvl another class/job.... :/

Questions:

1. Will I be able to do all content through duty finder or at some point there will be raids that only pre-made/guild groups can do?

2. Can I level all classes in a single character? If not, how many?

3. Any hints to fast level, specially the secondary classes?

i was wondering why the hell were people so excited about ?
And why the score ?
How is it different than any other MMO ?
Small areas, the same combat scheme, NO additional content at all = no rifts, no guild fights, nothing.

is it because it's final fantasy ?

Yes, unfortunately. And because it's infinitely better than the travesty that was the original FF XIV, people have been more forgiving.

Graphics are quite pretty tho...

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

how bad is the endgame tome grinding in this game? I thought of trying it but ive heared some bad things about it. Now , i played aion and l2 so the concept of hardcore grind is known to me but i ´d like to compare the ff grind to aion/l2 nontheless.

If you dont mind doing some daily dungeons for tomes, its not that hard.
Darklight set most expensive pieces cost like 870 tomes, just by doing daily roulettes you can get around 600/700 tomes per day, if you farm extra dungeons you can get more.
For Myth gear it will take longer because theres a cap on the amount you can get per week, 450 i believe.

Apparently Squaregreed decided to combat game trading and all possible methods of achieving cheap in-game time with their own measures and set the purchase type for FF14 on steam to "manual/review". Now every purchase, be it gift or personal, has to be reviewed by publisher:

Truly, the greed drives people and corporations to do weirdest shit (like putting a region lock on a shitty 5$ screensaver)

Perhaps if you own it and game was bought as a gift into inventory (andn ot to a friend) - they may refuse it suspecting you are trying to get 30d game time cheaper.
